View DJ Peter's profile |
Obscure musical gems, avant experimentation, and classics worth rehearing. A conurbation of Leslie speakers, timbales, plungers, arch-tops, tablas, and squeaky reeds. Black ties, pork pies, Cuban boots, Nudie suits, bobbysocks, turtlenecks, and high-heeled sneakers. Jazz is the north star but it’s a wide universe, so says The Laughing Clock.

The clock does not have to be centered in the photo (you may have noticed that in most of my photos the clock is NOT at center).

if you want more there's a vw show in germany with more variety than most people know exists (like this vw avatar) if you image search "hessisch-oldendorf-vw-show" or variations on that
...although maybe no wrought iron bugs!

Duval did a record for CIMP--I think not this one--featuring himself and a vocalist. To my knowledge, it received the worst review ever in Cadence, which otherwise admired his work.

For me the distinctive feature is the arresting drop in bar 2 which could be heard as referencing the bop rhythmic device of suddenly arresting the motion of the opening pell-mell phrase (e.g., "Ornithology").

Just listening to the last Blakey, great stuff, nice holiday show (especially since it wasn't full of the overplayed stuff), thanks, DJ Peter, Happy Holidays!
