With billows and blasts from choirs and orchesters
Buskers and talkers
Big bands and squawkers,
the Stork Club has retained its qualities of decaying elegance and dwindling significance since the late 1950s.

December 3, 2023: Silke Eberhard, Mike Cooper, and Nino Rota
A 3-parter at El Clubo del Storkerino today:
1. Alto sax, clarinet and bass clarinet player and composer Silke Eberhard, who’s got a gig coming this week not a mile from the Stork Club. Somewhat Dolphy-influenced but with a powerful voice of her own.
2. Mike Cooper had another busy year, travelling, gigging, recording, and releasing new stuff mostly with his lap-steel guitar and electronics. We’ll hear from a lovely tribute album to Lol Coxhill -as yet unreleasd - featuring Mike, using only electronics, duetting with a raft of fine sax players.
3. Buon compleanno, Nino Rota! The great composer from Milano is 112 today - music from the original movie soundtracks, and more….

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
' Giovanni Rota Rinaldi (Italian: [dʒoˈvanni ˈrɔːta riˈnaldi]; 3 December 1911 – 10 April 1979), better known as Nino Rota (IPA: [ˈniːno]), was an Italian composer, pianist, conductor and academic who is best known for his film scores, notably for the films of Federico Fellini and Luchino Visconti. He also composed the music for two of Franco Zeffirelli's Shakespeare screen adaptations, and for the first two installments of Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather trilogy, earning the Academy Award for Best Original Score for The Godfather Part II (1974).
During his long career, Rota was an extraordinarily prolific composer, especially of music for the cinema. He wrote more than 150 scores for Italian and international productions from the 1930s until his death in 1979 — an average of three scores each year over a 46-year period, and in his most productive period from the late 1940s to the mid-1950s he wrote as many as ten scores every year, and sometimes more, with a remarkable thirteen film scores to his credit in 1954. Alongside this great body of film work, he composed ten operas, five ballets and dozens of other orchestral, choral and chamber works, the best known being his string concerto. He also composed the music for many theatre productions by Visconti, Zeffirelli and Eduardo De Filippo as well as maintaining a long teaching career at the Liceo Musicale in Bari, Italy, where he was the director for almost 30 years. 2oz Glen Passaic, plus a little more
1 sugar cube
1 splash seltzer
3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
1/2oz absinthe
lemon peel
In a chilled rocks glass, swirl absinthe to coat, discarding excess into nearest French Impressionist or impressionable little boy. In a mixing glass, muddle sugar cube with soda water until fully dissolved. Add Glen Passaic, bitters, and ice, and stir with a glass rod to the tempo of a rhumba until rod bends like memory under the sway of desire, about 30 seconds. Strain into the absinthe-coated rocks glass, and garnish with lemon peel.

I'm thinking of adding a new regular segment to The Wreck: 3:45pm (ET) Snack Time. It's definitely BYOS, but I might eat my snacks on the air. During my Thanksgibby show, I ate a Hubig's coconut pie on the air and really enjoyed the experience.

- Love & Anarchy / Wertmuller is worthy (yet be forwarned, her & Fellini films have aged confusingly- ha!) I still ❤️ em ALL & the Music !!! (Thanks Stork!)
The joy is re-visiting films (Juliet spirits) as an elder now - makes way more sense! The Leopard (Visconti’s genius) is a marvel to experience in theatre! La Strada!
‘Swept Away’w/Giancarlo Gianinni = so Gooood! - totally inappropriate today & imo totally influenced fabu Triangle of Sadness !
