'Standard' is after all the 'Real' Time - & 'Savings' the aberration.
This is more than abstract. Our reckoning of Time correlates to the Natural Cycles of the Earth in relation to Celestial Objects. 'Noon' correlates to the Sun being @ its highest diurnal position in the sky, for instance. This is real & it is relevant. The assignment of Hours is *not* arbitrary.
Yes - this pov is influenced by my being an Astrology Enthusiast. Which is to say - I have particular interest in what Timekeeping is - & specific knowledge about how it is done - & why.
This is not to say I am unconcerned about - say - how much daylight schoolchildren have to return home under. (As much as part of me would reflexively rail against the imperiousness of the bourgeois breeders & Crapitalist shopkeepers to impose their Authority on even our Count of our own Hours...) But to blame the factual & actual Sky for their own unwillingness to change the times of *their own* Activities to accommodate Cosmic & Terrestrial Reality alike just proves to me which side to favor & support in the matter...
