I remember sending away for a signed Doctor Who photo album from Jon Pertwee after a fundraising marathon appearance on NJN where he said he was confused about Newark vs New York and months later I got an unsigned pleather-covered photo album with a paper slip on which was typewritten "Due to the large number of responses I am unable to sign this album."

Yea, German ā€œMā€ 1931 is stellar. I also really appreciate the Joseph Losey remake ā€œMā€ (1951) 20 years later is very worthy! Itā€™s twisted in a way most 1950s films werenā€™t at the time. Pushing the envelope of the censors.

USA born Director Joseph Losey has a strong career for alternative edgy movies. Right around the time of his ā€œMā€ remake, he was being ā€œBlacklistedā€ and persecuted by the RKO/Howard Hughes takeover. Left for the UK & went on to make excellent films in exile.

Director of weird MAD LOVE (1935) featuring strong twisted Peter Lorre role: Karl W. Freund, A.S.C. (January 16, 1890 ā€“ May 3, 1969) was a German Bohemian and American cinematographer and film director. He is best known for photographing Metropolis (1927), Dracula (1931), and television's I Love Lucy (1951ā€“1957). Freund was an innovator in the field of cinematography, often noted for pioneering the unchained camera technique.
