In a cheese-adjacent experience I had this weekend, I was watching a cooking show about short cuts for the busy home maker. Some of the shortcuts were great (like quick thai noodle meals in jars that can be heated in about 3 minutes), some were bizarre (like a meatloaf wellington with hard-boiled eggs in the middle). Then, at the end of the show on time-saving tips, the host says "let me show you how easy it is to make your own butter..." and proceeds to make butter...

I used to frequent a wine shop in Manhattan Beach, CA, Manhattan Beach Fine Wines (formerly just a plain old liquor store with an amazing selection of wine). It got to the point where the proprietor knew my palate. I'd walk in and he would point, "You want that and that and that..." It is entirely to the consumer's benefit to cultivate a relationship with experts like Joe at MBFW, still my favorite wine store, even though I live 400 miles north of it.

Hahaha! Yeah I was in the middle of BFE a couple months ago, bored, sober, with time to kill. It was like 11AM, and the only thing open that *might* have had booze was a Chuck E. Cheese.
