More beautiful "doom & gloom" featuring a trio of quirky folk. Nick Castro's debut album, "A Spy in the House of God," is beautifully tinged with psychdelic touches. Marissa Nadler's been hailed as a smoky chanteuse both sultry and captivating, and her mournful dirges and melancholic ballads are influenced by old-timey americana folk, portuguese fado, psychedelia, and country. Nick Castro says this of Josephine Foster: "Everyday I wish I had never heard her so that I could hear her for the first time again. I envy you. She is my fav current singer by far and one of my (many) all-time favorites. She can make me weep instantly. Usually by tormenting and ridiculing me (joking) but her singing is great too." |
