Downtown calling?

Jill Kroesen:

I can’t get up to cook, Whitney is resting in my lap. Luckily I have excellent entertainment!

Barbara Branca:

Is that Toots Theilman with Jaco?

Beneath the Underground:

Hey Subterraneans ⚡️ today is the 44th anniversary of the Clash at NYC’s Palladium (14th St, Mr Fab!). That immortal pic of Paul Simonon was taken around THIS TIME.

Beneath the Underground:

Hey Barbara. You got it. Jaco live in NY, 1982 w Toots.

Jill, I’ve learned to heed to our pets including the new baby pterodactyl!

Thanks! One of the best musical nights ever was hearing Toots out over the water at Gosman's Dock in Montauk.

Toots was a treasure !

Jill Kroesen:

Clean plate is so utterly delightful!!

Beneath the Underground:

If folks haven’t guessed, here’s a bass-heavy set in honor of Simonon destroying his Fender Precision at the Palladium. ————Any fave downtown bass players we haven’t played yet??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm
Beneath the Underground:

Jill: Clean Plate: both Laswell and Jamaaladeen!

Beneath the Underground:

Friends: did you know that Jamaal is not simply still active but possibly at the top of his game? This is from ‘94, but he’s lost nothing.
Coming up is NO SAFETY w bassist/vocalist extraordinaire Ann Rupel!
  10:44pm
Jill Kroesen:

Have you played Richard Hell yet? A fave bass player of mine. Wowzer show!! No wonder I never miss it! Bass heavy is good!!!

That was a terrific set! It's all about the bass.

If even Brooklyn is getting pricey, where do artists go now? Has Staten Island been colonized yet?

Lol Mr Fab, SI remains no man’s land, save for the brave few. Any NYC borough that actually voted for Trump doesn’t appeal to artists. Brrrrr

Mr Fab:

It is one of the great tragedies of the musical world that the release of "LAMF" was botched - The Heartbreakers should have been remembered as a top-rank CBGB band instead of just being a New York Dolls footnote.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm
Beneath the Underground:

Agreed, Fab. But things splintered early; heroin is a terrible force. Hell being pushed out led to the very cool Voidoids, but the Heartbreakers continued to suffer. Johnny Thunders’ addiction was brutal
