dday:
While I don't believe the larger conspiracy theories of 9-11..this is TRUTH..that happened to MY family Victor & Jean Dai, & what I tried to do warn the US Govt. ahead of the tragedy that might possibly could've been prevented.
In the Summer of 2000 I was coming home from working my job at Metro Electronics in Montague, NJ & as I often did I stopped at Mom & Dad's house. While talking to my Dad he starts telling me how he's been getting these late night phone calls from men, Middle Eastern sounding voices, telling him to send them $3000.00 or they'll kill his father. My grandfather , his Dad died in 1981. My parents had never been out of the US except for Dad's week long fishing trip to Canada once. Dad, being the good Sicilian that he was, tells them Fuck Off. This goes on for a few weeks & Dad now getting concerned thinking maybe they mean his sons, or grandson, calls The NJ State Police in Newton, NJ. They send a Trooper up who takes the info & makes a report. Nothing changes the late nite calls continue.
Fast forward to the fall of 2000, the frequency of the calls stops & as usual I stop at their house on my way home one day & Mom's at the kitchen table, going over her bills & checkbook & looking very confused & concerned. I ask her what's up & she shows me her Citibank MC statement & Citibank Visa statement. Both have charges for around $3500.00 each on them from company's like MCI Worldcom, Delta 3 Communications & other early internet Domain Name & Internet telephony sites. My Dad, a building inspector, had a Windows 3.1 PC at the time & wasn't the surfing type. I told her & Dad to call the NJ State Police Computer Crime Division in Trenton as they'd been hacked somehow. I also take copies of the bills home with me.
The NJSP people come up gather evidence make a report & leave. In the meantime , Citibank is hounding Mom & Dad to pay the bill. They explain it's not their charges but Citibank says they don't care, pay up. Dad hires an attorney. Months go by & nothing. I lose the job I had, so now I have lots of spare time on my hands. So, I start digging, doing detective work, using my Proteva (1998 Home Shopping Network) PC with Windows 98 & a dial up modem to search out the company's info whose charges appear on the CC statements.
I find several, a few of which I listed above, & their phone contacts & I start calling, asking to speak with someone in legal. To my astonishment & almost to the company, I wind up speaking with their legal people at each, taking notes as I went. All were very helpful when I explained in depth what had been going on. My parents keep getting bills.
By now it's April 2001 & I start calling first the local FBI office in Orange County NY (closest local field office that I knew of at the time)& even the FBI in DC. No one seems to care or even take me seriously when I say I think there's a terror cell behind this. I reference the Trade Center bombings in 1993 (see above). I'm met with silence on the other end of the line. I give up on that. My Dad's lawyer will handle it I guess.
I keep digging as new bills come in to them & find there's a charge from a company that makes satellite cell phone equipment & accessories in Texas. I call, explain why I called & they give me the shipping info for the charge ..a street address in Lahore, Pakistan. Now I'm on fire , I call the FBI back & tell them ..look something's up..again ..silence & a cursory.."we'll look into it.”
I get a new job in May & so I don't have the time I had to devote to this. It seemed no one was listening anyway.
Sept. 11, 2001..I'm working for USA Security Systems of Lodi, NJ changing dial out codes in residential alarm panels all over Bergen County NJ. At 9:00AM I pull up in front of a home in Ridgewood, NJ. While listening to WNYC on the van radio getting ready to go inside, the radio goes dead. I ring the bell ID myself & the lady lets me in. I go to her basement & do my work. I come upstairs & she's crying, staring at a small tv in her kitchen. the Towers had been hit. We watch in stunned amazement as the horror unfolds & we see what looks like a body fall from the sky, maybe it's debris, I don't know. She turns to me & says "my husband works in the North Tower." I'm speechless, I try to console her, I tell her it'll be OK.
This will be the first of many, many customers I will be both greif counselor & alarm tech for in the coming months.
A few weeks pass & I get a call from..The FBI asking for my records on the whole affair with my parents. I tell them you have everything I have. They want to know HOW I did all this.I tell them, "you have everything I have sent you." Never heard from them again.
The Citibank mess was finally straightened out, but not after costing my parents several thousand in legal fees.
The hack of their cards..an employee at Citibank in Israel.
There was an FBI agent named John O'Neil, who tried in vain to get through the inter-agency non-cooperation (FBI,CIA others ?) to warn the Bush Admin. but he too was ignored. He died in the North Tower. his story is told in the HULU Series "Looming Tower”

In 1994 I worked for EST Edwards Corp. servicing alarm systems in NJ, NY & CT.
We had a small alarm panel in a first floor cafe in the North Tower. It was the only panel in the bldg. that continued to function throughout the event as it was on a true battery backup rather than the bldgs. backup generator system.
While working for USA Security in 2001, shortly After 9-11, I remember being sent on a service call to a hotel (maybe Embassy Suites) on West Street in lower Manhattan after the Towers fell. A phone line trouble, most of the line trunks were still down so all I could do was program out the dial out feature & tell them to start Firewatch procedures as required.
It was the most surreal thing I'd seen up till then. People walking hurriedly, with masks or, shirts or handkerchiefs covering their mouths & noses while multiple street sweepers did an almost dance trying to water down the still swirling dust.
Later while working for a company called Armor Group (2003 - 2005) A friend & co-worker,who was also a foreman from Local 3 Electricians in NYC, Edward Hellbeck, was among the many who helped set up lighting & communications on adjacent rooftops after the Towers fell. He showed me pictures of the aftermath, probably no one has seen.

I was working at an assembly shop, listening to Howard Stern, and I think Bababooey came in and said a plane hit one of the towers. Everyone thought it way a small personal prop plane; not a whole airline. Then the second one hit and it was like, none of this was an accident...
My brother in law and his wife were married two days before, and were scheduled to leave for Ireland out of Boston that morning. There were some tense hours before we were able to get in contact with them. They had slept in, and had no idea what was going on when they woke up to a panicked phone call.
