i don't know what i would've thought had i read it much earlier, but it's a pointless read under those circumstances.

His process was - train even sort of physically for a brief while ...take a crapload of speed - & type an entire Classic Book in one go.

Ginsberg of course was explicit that he did for the length of a Poem with Howl what Kerouac did for whole Novels. & Burroughs that Jakc was the first to assert without equivocation that He Was A Writer.
Which doesn't gainsay your point.

i do think if i'd read that as a teenager it might've had something to offer me.
as it is, the only thing that stuck with me after i finished it - besides some imagery regarding the orgone accumulator- was when he laid on his car at night, peacefully acknowledging the mosquitoes biting him.

How many Novels do you really reread ? Tolkien for me - but - that's like Visiting an actual Place... & the truth is - I've absorbed a lot of Kerouac via various Audio - & Video. He Recorded a fair amount. & having it in his own Voice makes a difference, too... Another way the Beats relate to Rawk Stars for me - in fact.

a few Vonnegut, a few García-Márquez...
but then i haven't read that many books
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
We're both emotive Water Signs... & Mystics. His Process & Form were obviously brave & innovative - & his Theory of Spontaneous Prose ...altogether this was the most Subversive (even literally as Beneath the Verse) thing that can ever be done in a Society: reveal that Everything Is Poetry...
