Studios then were all 2" tape, no digital yet for years.
A reel back then was $200.00 and an LP could easily chew up a dozen reels. Then there was transfer 2 track tape, before mastering, pressing etc. Very costly.
When I got the chance to actually go learn the science of recording behind the art in AZ in 98 I jumped at the chance.
After graduating there I did an internship at Nevessa Production under Chris Andersen, Todd Rundgren's right hand man (to this day he's doing both audio & live video work for Todd) where the studio was 1/2 analog & 1/2 early digital (ADATS).
He hired me after the internship, but his business was in a down period & I couldn't afford to stay on so I went back into the alarm business. He's doing very well now. I'm retired.
A mortgage will have one make the necessary decisions. :)

I did some live mixing gigs for him & studio maintenance repairing cables & such because of my electronics background.
Of course right after I left things picked up for him as he landed a contract to tour with The Allman Brothers doing direct to disc live recordings of every show of their tour. That set him up good & I was really happy for him.
I do miss being around the music though.

July: Buck Moon
In July, the Full Moon is called Buck Moon to signify the new antlers that emerge on deer buck’s foreheads around this time. Other Native American tribes call it Salmon Moon, Raspberry Moon, and Thunder Moon.
In Celtic, this Moon was known as the Claiming Moon, Wyrt Moon, Herb Moon, and Mead Moon. The Anglo-Saxons called it the Hay Moon.
