Nowadays they're prevalent on digital and FMU shows, but I'm not sure how much Can vinyl was floating around in the States at the time. That will affect how easy it is to buy used vinyl now. (I'd like to check a record store, my local standby closed right before COVID, haven't been to one since ☹️)

Yes, the underlying War and postWar poverty is never far from the surface. Glitz-glamo(ur)-fun -- and what led them to there. Just like any type of high, all that may feel great, but eventually you remember the world you're in, and that it's still that world you were in.

And YES - I've seen Cirque's "Love", and the war-torn youth does in fact play a large role in establishing their story.

Angela Cartwight lucked out on the “pretty” genes that her big sister lacked. Veronica had more success as an actress though, unless you think the mega-successful “The Sound of Music” alone trumps the sum of everything Veronica did.

I haven't kept up with Waters' statements to judge. But I balk @ anyone thinks its anything new. He was with AntiNuke activists as a student kid in the early 1960s. He was *always* outspoken & political. & I agree that being anti-Bibi doesn't make one AntiSemitic & all that. Israel deserves to be critiqued for their Apartheid. Anybody with a "platform" by virtue of being a celebrity is very likely in many ways "a prick." To my knowledge, Waters is an outspoken critic of Israeli domestic foreign policy, and that brands him a dick among the establishment. Why?

Yeah - I'm wanting to understand the context of that very specifically. It sounds like In Character as for TheWall or something - but I fear some weird turn...
You know - comedian Steve Hofstetter was answering a question from someone about the boundaries in Comedy - & he made the point - it doesn't matter what Richard Pryor or whoever did ...cause NOW - things are changing *weekly*. It's not too surprising if some Boomers aren't making all the transitions comfortably on cue ...or any of us, really.

I entirely agree that we have lost the capacity to talk about difficult, controversial issues in moderating ways. (You know who knew how to do that? William F. Buckley, Jr. He had shitty opinions, but we could attack them rationally and meaningfully. Not any more.) People resort to overstatement and hyperbole. Anyway, Waters' criticisms of Israel seems to me fairly ordinary. I myself do not understand why a nation's identity ought to be defined in terms of its religion.

But of course I don't want to derail the comments into a dispute about Israel.

Pink Moon can divide listeners, some call it his "masterpiece" but others (who knew Nick) thought it was a disturbing foreshadowing of his fate.
