Similar with many other cities in WWII (like Warsaw), there's the "Old City" and "New City" from historic growth patterns, and the Old Cities were usually destroyed by bombing and rebuilt after, and the New Cities less so. So their "New Cities" are now older than their "Old Cities".

Le Corbusier has many interesting buildings in the photos I see - his postwar Marseille "Unité d'Habitation" is less brutalist and more like the style I often saw. In the former East Berlin the postwar housing resembles is comparable to other planned communities like Reston, Virginia - the insides were/are certainly not as nice as the West but the park like layouts remind one of that era worldwide.
