It might just be fans putting these together and passing them around.

I was in Philly last year and tried local specialties, including the "PBR" sandwich (Pork - Provolone - Broccoli Raab). Very tasty, warm and hearty! To me it seemed like a good winter sandwich, though they said they eat it any time of year.

I remember reading that it was a concession to record store retailers who both thought CDs by themselves were too easy to steal and also so they could be more easily integrated into existing bins made for 12" records.
