The atmosphere was pretty thick with such concerns relating to Black Lives Matter a while back ...oh yes, mid-2020 - height of the Pandemic as well... Matter of fact, the moderator of the Ichiban stream came up against FMU Management over Policy (feeling more of an Activist nature should be proactively done than the FreeForm idealists wished, I suppose) & left to establish BossRadio66 - & replaced on FMU by the Rock & Soul Stream... These black box statements remain...

This is tricky - because the Right advertises / propagandizes itself as 'AntiGovernment' & defenders of our FreeDumbs.
I phrase it as : Politics is where our Ideals collide with the Game of Power. Often @ 90°. & this, folks - is Ugly. Which is convenient for those who wish the People to put their attention elsewhere...
Or as John Lennon put it - there may often be only one inch of difference between Parties - but it is often the Inch that people *breath in*...

Alright, Gang Of Four. I saw them a few times back in the '80s. Hair-raising shows. Once, a group opened for them that obviously wanted to sound like Gang Of Four too. It didn't seem to catch my interest.

How pathetic that I can't remember if I saw GoF back in the day? If I did, it would have been when Sara Lee was playing bass in the band.

Yes. And there is one taco truck that I frequent semi-regularly and I get tremendous shrimp and fish tacos there, in Sunnyside. They have these delicious green and red hot sauces that I think are homemade. I'm running out for my lunch break. I love this song choice. I'll be listening in the archives, fer sher. Thanks, Mary!

Mary, it's not lame. I was kidding. My sympathy, I am getting old also, and forgetting things, also. I've sat down and written up lists of concerts I saw. Did it a few times. Maybe that helped.

I just read an article about people not recalling much or anything about live performances they've attended. The writer used a recent Taylor Swift tour as example where someone had lamented that they wished they had got to see the tour and then a friend posted on tiktok a vid clip of said wisher dancing wildly at the Taylor Swift concert. Huge simplification is that if you were super excited during the show, you are less likely to create any memories. Which reminds me, I have a facebook reply I need to make regarding the date and venue of a concert I said I saw. Haven't figured it out but I think I saw them sometime in a two year range. But it was so many years ago and I went alone so can't ask anyone.

I read that article too! I can see how too much excitement/fear/anger can stop the brain from forming memories; probably why some people can't remember traumatic events like car crashes, et al.

Hello Mary & 100-percenters!

Not a first-time listener, in fact, been enjoying your show for the last two years and really enjoy the 3OAK portion of the program. And this week, you've picked a winner of a tune to research covers for! Btw, I'm almost sure The Dickies performed a cover version of this tune at one of their live reunion shows, but not sure if there's any evidence of that anywhere, even on the YouTubes.

Erik/VermonT:

I treasure my Go4 vinyl collection.
Re-collected most of the early classics period on decent sounding CDs. It all went off the rails with their 4th “HARD” album …(which was anything Butt-Hard !!!). It was like falling-off a Cliff even from the still great transitioning “Songs of the Free” album. What happened there ? I forget ? Did Gill & King have temporary brain aneurisms ?! That being said, I still kinda wanna get it on a CD copy - 🤪 hahaha.
Ps: ¿ beyond that 4th album, what other latter period Go4 albums are worthy of collecting ???

i was severely disappointed when songs of the free came out. it was as if they'd got married and settled down, instantly.
