most of my journeys toward the us west coast have been by car, so i had relative luxury in packing. leaving room for 120 cassette tapes, a large cooler, a few books, a tent and sleeping bag and room for me to sleep was not hard in a 245 volvo.

It's probably good practice to notify your credit card company that you're going to be in Europe so they don't go off and assume that the card had been stolen. And ask them if the card has a PIN. I think the system in Europe is set up to use PINs with each transaction. 💳
