Yes, the simple white cover makes it easier to observe decay and transformation, which along with the numbers makes for an interesting project. When the installation is open, it's a 'record shop' with only original White Albums (in every condition), sorted by number instead of name.

Jonathan Kane's got a new supergroup with Dave Soldier, Jim McHugh (Sunwatchers), Peter Kerlin (Chris Forsyth) and Matt Mottel (Talibam!) - group's called Everloving, it's all Henry Flynt tracks, and it's even better than that sounds. And there are plans afoot to get them here on the show soon!

i got this album at one of the WFMU record fairs and what i really like about it if you're listening to the sides sequentially is that it starts out in relatively straightforward hillbilly hoedown territory and gets progressively more abstract.

i'd refine that thought as something like "the history that is promoted by the state is written by the state and its agents." lots of good independent historical writing, free from state (including church) influence, has been written over the centuries in cultures across the world. for example, in my field (chinese studies), there are 25 official dynastic histories. some were written under imperial command by committees, and others were private ventures that were later adopted and promoted by the state. and then there are volumes and volumes of private histories of dynasties, biographies, localities, etc, that offer unofficial perspectives on the events of the past.

today, academic historians, journalist, and sometimes amateur historians, write works that challenge the official narratives. anything based on credible evidence and documented in a manner that allows for others to review the materials can be good history.
