...but indeed ! Even if a Beatle track does not - say - have stunning Lyrics
- the Arrangement, Performance or Recording - or any combination of these - still make it ...well - stunning. Imho.

- as they misrepresent what TheBeatles (& Marin et al) intended for sequencing - also warped out perspective of their temporal Progress - & the Cover Art was dumber & pandering with giant RED LETTERING like cheap advertising (which it was).
...Tho even a broken clock is right twice a day : with Beatle material - it had to be okay sometimes. 'Beatles Second Album' put the more R&B & Rawkin' tracks together : there was the catch-up only right then the USA had to make to Beatlemania elsewhere
...also - since TheBeatles' ethic was to not just put Hit Singles on the LPs - but to always Move Forward - the USA Capitol reshufflings put many of these on the LPs - which in some ways made them easier to collect. (Born Nov. 1963 - I did this staring in the very early 1970s...)

'Beatles For Sale' - described by Tim Riley as the Yin between two Yang Movies - has lots of Covers - which hell who would want to vie without ? Treading water slightly - yet connecting to Roots - which after all - TheBeatles significantly preserved continuity with then (it's easy to forget). & the Originals - like the oe we just heard (& defended) - already showing more complexity & depth - both in mood & sonics. Presaging 'RubberSoul' (as does 'Help!' inbetween them) - more than is generally recognized, I posit. (Are TheBeatles credited as much as others as CountryRawk pioneers ?)
Yes ...it's Pop Product made to a market schedule (Xams often). But in a way - all the more notable for it...

Point taken - Paul said they were a little embarrassed by 'Yesterday' - a virtual Solo Paul ...when they thot they were a little R&B combo still.

As for 'Artistic Statements' - that too is qualifiable - for the whole Culture in the mid1960s. It is that Evolution of the relation twixt Pop & Art we are concerned with specifically. When a few months often meant a great deal.
