My Dad described how stores weren't allowed to sell books in Virginia on Sunday (a major purchase?) but were allowed to sell periodicals (for the Sunday paper). Consequently, despite the Christian Sabbatarian intent, you could buy the National Enquirer on a Sunday, but not the Bible!

Though I think this was a conceit of Ken: notice how Ken was logged in as "Nachum" before Ken arrived, at the time before the FS was released to the general commenters. Now it's clearly visible, maybe Ken was just taking the piss out of the listeners!
