You're right the USPS is persnickity, but it still answers to The Man (and has its own police). Working as a UPS Driver Helper, I learned it's a Federal crime to put anything other than US Mail in any mailbox/slot. The only plus is 07303 is the PO Box zip for the Jersey City Main PO, so you could put it the local delivery box, for speedier delivery.
