Hahaha, I basically broke the stores’ computer POS when I commented on how cheap the purchase of two bungee cords was, and that prompted the merchant to cancel the sale to ring it up correctly, and then the computer decided it didn’t want to run a the new sale. I spent 20 minutes trying to pay- the store is a 2 minutes walk from my house.

Miss G:

Why I said “there is a time and place” to myself, not to anyone else: when my guy had died suddenly, I had to see a low-income-something lawyer about his “estate” (the lawyer was a Virginia prep like Brett Kavanaugh, but those guys always since I went to UVA in 1981, they loved me, “take a walk on the wild side” etc.) So I was going on and on about “his wishes” and the lawyer suddenly yelled at me, “What do you care? HE’s DEAD.” and it was the first time that it hit me. So, for me, I try to live in the moment, what’s going on now with the living, and the person who is dead, we can honor them anytime. . . this is, for ME.

What a loss!! Tom Verlaine was so talented and made such an impact.

honestly, i feel some of the same feelings about verlaine as some are espousing, today. or at least the entire band Televsion. and it doesn't take away from anything anyone has said or thinks, here.

Thanks for putting this tribute together, TOPT! My Saturday routine was switching over to XPN for the Geator's show after you signed off. He's going to be missed.

Clarke, you can’t imagine, how I’m thinking of how in the early days of knowing my guy, he nonchalantly put on a vinyl bootleg of a live version, like a half hour, of “Little Johnny Jewel,” knowing that I would get. . .feelings. ;-)

Do in fact prefer to hear about artists passing here @ FMU.
As there is also nowhere else this tribute would happen here like this.

I’ll unfortunately have to listen to this tribute in depth at a later date. My one and only interesting Television story, saw them open for Peter Gabriel at the Capitol Theater in Passaic in 1977. TV was booed off the stage before finishing a song, but I’ve been a fan ever since. And PG was said to be so embarrassed by hi s fans behavior, that he personally came out to introduce the opener on all his subsequent tours. RIP Tom Verlaine.

I can understand why some people don't want to watch news or do social media. Everything is either depressing or downright horrifying. I'm glad there are still radio stations like WFMU to bring us together.

My heartfelt thanks to you Todd-o-phonic Todd! My day got turned upside down and so I could tune in for a bit live. My times at club Heartbreak (Manhattan) rockabilly night in the early 80s (met former husband there) seem like a _pale imitation_ to Memories in Margate! Hearing people talk about the dispersion of music, via Jerry Blavat, The Geator With The Heater, that music which is so dear to all of our hearts, really is a balm. So touched by this show, thank you.
