Dolphins may suffer from Alzheimer’s disease, say researchers in Scotland"
"..showed three hallmarks of Alzheimer’s in humans. Abnormal levels of the beta-amyloid protein had accumulated into plaques that disrupt neurons in the brain, another protein called tau had gathered into tangles inside the neurons, and there was a build-up of glial cells, which cause inflammation of the brain...."

Incredible creatures.
The vet was a very famous French guy, Yves something (I don't remember his last name) who was featured on a PBS special on dolphins with Robin Williams. He told us many things about them.
This is from a website :
Research shows that on average, adult dolphins have an absolute brain mass of 1500 grams. This, of course, varies from species to species but it is larger than the absolute brain mass of humans, which ranges from 1300g to 1400g.
Dolphins however have a brain-to-body mass lower than that of humans. It is not simply the size of the brain that matters.
Dolphins have an incredibly complex neocortex, which is the part of the brain science and studies in evolution point to being responsible for the evolution of human intelligence. To simplify, a complex neocortex most often means high intelligence.

I can say that they have their place.
An example: because of infrared cameras we had mounted above ceiling tiles in a site (drug manufacturing DEA regulated facility), we prevented what was destined to be another mass shooting when the cameras caught an employee (who knew he was to be fired the next day) stashing a gun above the ceiling.
He was arrested for simple unlicensed possession of a weapon, but it could have been much worse if not for the cameras
