The Monterey film was hugely important to me growing up when the few channels one got then had certain flix on like once every year. Very much the CounterCulture discovering itself before any of the consequences came home - maybe tops my list for time machine options ! I'll be back in the Archives...

Actually, it was “Ravi Shankar’s music made me cry”, then “The Grateful Dead blew everybody's mind”.
I never liked the Dead, but Garcia himself said they were terrible at Monterey and Woodstock (possibly explaining their exclusion in the film documentaries).
