it's weird to think that early-to-mid '80s culture, what with its' New Wave/alt rock, primary color design, Valley Girls, etc, was only a few years removed from the heyday of disco. the Violent Femmes debut, that uber-text of college rock, literally only came out like a mere 3 years after disco's last big year 1979. But it aged so quickly, by '82 it already felt like ancient history.
