If only RevRab had gotten here in time to listen to Sir Richard Harris. I'm sure he'd have a lot of fun factoids to share about his life and career.

RevRab, between TOPT and Devon E. Levins (and Fabio, once), there's fairly immense ground being covered concerning the connection between music and the moving image.
Avatar 10:32pm

The performance Hendrix did in Maui from Rainbow Bridge - Stevie Nicks is in there somewhere I think - & Jimi pointed her out & said some Jimi thing during FoxyLady or such...

You reckon in 1968 people had only just become aware of Janis Joplin yet for an example of a female RawkStar...

Purity Boys by Blank Banshee... off of Blank Banshee 1 which imo is the best vaporwave album

High bar BBoys' voices & Brian's Production. But not bad ! & to even want to do it then.
  10:42pm
Androu B.:

@MHLee - I'd like to believe The Beach Boys, Brian Wilson in particular, set the foundation for what would become vaporwave. Makes sense if you think about it.
Avatar 10:42pm

it's not on her album I'm thinking it might have been a shelved track

'Mirror' has me thinking of 'Desiree' by Left Banke.

She looks awfully grim on that album cover. Maybe contemplating a particulary difficult case the Mod Squad were trying to crack.

it's produced by a jazz/bossa nova guy who knows what inspired it!
Avatar 10:51pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Anybody doesn't know the Explorers' Room program on the Drummer stream Thur. @ 7 - he spotlights all kinds of Lounge & Exotica & Library Musics - whole Worlds. Has really made me relative how much Exotica was way ahead of Rawk~Pop with Concept Albums & Production & many such things. Brian Wilson in L.A was clearly aware of all of this. & TheBeatles' Producer George Martin fits right in with his experiments as Ray Cathode & his Classic & Comedy experience & so on ...it was Psych before Psych in other words.
If that even relate to the Vaporwave situation - which I'm actually ignorant of...

Maybe the Politics in '69 ...probly even worse in Brazil than here for the Tropicalia people.

...what's 'Helter Skelter' in Portugese ?...

Not.

This feature prominantly in the end of video game called spec ops the line... best narrative i've ever seen in a war game... based heavily on apocalypse now... also has deep purple... every chapter has a bit of the star spangled banner when you return to the main menu
  10:59pm
Androu B.:

RevRab, if you mean 'Helter Skelter' in the descriptive sense (adverbially), the word is "desordenadamente". If you mean the UK term for a spiral staircase, it's "escada em espiral".
Avatar 11:02pm
Julie:

desordenadamente is a great name for a band
Avatar 11:03pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Really the only completed Studio Album we got fully under Jimi's own control.
Avatar 11:03pm
Julie:

now I wish Jimi had covered helter skelter
  11:03pm
Androu B.:

It simply means "disorderly".
Avatar 11:05pm
Julie:

disorderly is not nearly as much fun
  11:06pm
Androu B.:

Unless you happen to be a director of comedy movies. There was one movie called "Disorderlies"
  11:08pm
Androu B.:

...which was about three Marx Brothers style fellows wreaking havoc at a hospital.

'Disorder' a very typical sort of Punk name...
You know - recently saw the 'Last 24 Hours' thing they did about Jimi ...& kinda shaken by it. Find myself entertaining the possibly he was forcibly drowned in red wine in fact. Odd circumstances...

I mean - I dunno. His Management was shad y as f*ck. & died himself a few years later in a plane that got bombed ! Always heard he'd had a little wine ...getting all forensic here ...then they say 'so much' wine ...well, which was it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm
PaulRobeson1922:

that LoVe of life and death, or lust and anguish, are simply twins whom no one can distinguish…
  11:15pm
Androu B.:

RevRab, those televised docs are often overdramatized and sometimes exaggerate facts to ridiculously improbable extremes. Don't always believe what you see & hear. There's always some sort of coverup involved in the addressing of what they determine to be a factor behind the cause of death.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm
PaulRobeson1922:

Before I crawl back in the wall. Just what matters after all? If the time and place are right, why not get it straight tonight
Avatar 11:16pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Jimi was apparently the Spiritual ~ Artistic sort who placed those things above even self-preservation in some respects. They say he didn't think he'd live much longer - which perplexed his friends. One can play chicken or egg with that in light of his sh*tty - even shifty Management.
AndrouB yes - also true.
Avatar 11:18pm
Julie:

what am I getting straight?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm
PaulRobeson1922:

The lyrics came to me in my half slumber- let me
Find the rest
Avatar 11:20pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& aside from Management, insurance policies, money & the mob - there's also the J.Edgar era situations with CounterCulture - & Jimi even coming out in favor of the BlackPanthers @ times. & so on. He was pressured to stay with the (white & popular) Experience - all these things ...reminded of how the Kennedys were actually expert @ making enemies - motives everywhere...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
PaulRobeson1922:

Here I'm standing at your door
Like so many times before
Since the time you let me in
I knew that I'd be here again

I know so little about Jimi it’s not even funny
Avatar 11:22pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

PaulR - reminded of 'Set You Free This Time' by the BYrdS & 'Long & Winding Road'...
  11:23pm
Androu B.:

Case in point: I've always believed, and his wife eve agrees with this, that Chris Cornell didn't kill himself, but rather was murdered, and that his killer took great pains to arrange the circumstantial evidence to make it look as if he did himself in.
Avatar 11:26pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Different fellow ! :D
...Jimi had been in the Army earlier ! A Paratrooper (jumped out of planes!) *just* before 'Nam. Also injured his ankle - & got out. He came from Seattle - & was stationed in Tennessee, From there began his career as a sideman throughout the South & all over - ending up in NYC eventually, where he was discovered by Chas Chandler, former Bassist for the Animals - & taken to England...
Avatar 11:28pm

yeah I was very young when I read it, I just assumed it was that Jimi since they were likely all hangin out together in CA

You know, a couple of years ago, I stopped at a local Guitar Center, where I saw a promo poster for a performance by Carole King, and it inspired mr to play "I Feel The Earth Move" on one of their keyboards in the showroom. It's a really easy song to play by ear, considering how often you've heard it throughout your lifetime.

Avatar 11:49pm
Mr Fab:

Me and my friends used to talk about "big-sister music," and how "Tapestry" was THE classic big-sister album. When Ursula 1000 had his show here, I mentioned this when he played a track off it, and he wrote "Holy shit this is MY big sis' album! She left it behind when she moved out, and I kept it."
