Stormy: My experience with edibles is hit or miss. The store by me has some chocolates, and those knock me the fuck out. Like, I ate one tiny square and was falling asleep at a movie theater, something I NEVER do. Punch Bars, they are called.

Was very impressed by TOS.....Not the movie I was expecting!

But the store also has lolipops, and one of those, or even half, and I'm a fun loopy dood.

Hi! I just watched the animated reconstruction of Doctor Who: The Evil of the Daleks with Patrick Troughton. Completely bonkers stuff with a mad scientist who builds a time machine out of mirrors and bargains w/the Daleks for the secret to alchemy. Spoiler alert: making a deal with Daleks is a bad idea. Parts of it are really slow-moving but the ending is a real cracker.

Avatar 3:27am
Fox:

ooooh, thanks for letting me know, Ike! I've been meaning to go through all of Who from the beginning. When I was a kid and obsessing over DW on PBS, there were just a handful of Troughton stories. I think they found a trove of lost ones in the basement of a church in Italy for some reason?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27am

Hey, Spatulator!
  3:30am
Itsa Little Stormy:

Anyone see the new Dr Who yet, w the regeneration to 14?
Avatar 3:30am
Ike:

Yeah, on PBS they only had about 6 Troughton stories. Then they found "Tomb of the Cybermen" about 20 years ago (??) and then more recently, most of "Enemy of the World" (which is not bad) and "The Web of Fear" (which is really great) turned up. And they have the audio for every episode, so for the animated recons, it's the original audio with slightly janky "Archer"-style animation. But it's functional!
  3:31am
Listener Bop Monroe:

loved it when it was rebooted in 2005 with better tech, pacing and writing.
but Butch Doctor only lasted 1 season.

Can't wait for the new season yeah!

Avatar 3:32am

@Itsa, yeah, it sucked, but that showrunner -- don't even get me started on that idiot -- he's FINALLY GONE. Seasons 11-13 were boring AF, absolute rubbish. Russell T. Davies is coming back so #14 should be decent again.
Avatar 3:32am

Dai Tennant was my man
  3:34am
Itsa Little Stormy:

Tennant rocks! They needed him now to save the show
Avatar 3:35am
Ike:

@Paulo, he's back! At least temporarily in late 2023. The idiot showrunner who's now gone tanked the show so badly that they had to bring back Tennant to save it.
  3:36am
Itsa Little Stormy:

Whitaker had great potential, but they gave her shit to work w...weak storylines and dialogue
Avatar 3:38am
Fox:

Tennant and Matt Smith had great runs. But the Amy Pond and Rory storyline should have ended better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38am
Paulo AD:

I might start watching it again. I stopped halfway through matt Smith.
They filmed it all where I used to live. Nearly ran over captain Jack once haha
Avatar 3:39am
Ike:

Agreed, Whitaker was robbed. She only had a handful of episodes not written by that moron Chris Chibnall. UK shows are very heavily showrunner-driven and often written entirely by one person. As the episode counts went down esp. due to COVID, it became more and more up to one person... and the BBC made a terrible choice with that guy. Just because you can write a (wildly overrated) crime show does not mean you can write sci-fi.
Avatar 3:39am
Fox:

I keep hoping that the alternative universe that Rose ended up in ends up being the universe that the classic Who came from, so the wierd ways the classic and modern Who don't match up would be explained.
Avatar 3:40am
Ike:

I mean, there were plenty of conflicts in original Who as well, like the 2 or 3 different Atlantises and the UNIT dating controversy.
Avatar 3:40am
Fox:

Paulo: You were living in Cardiff?
Avatar 3:41am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41am

I am originally from 25 mules North of Cardiff, a town called merthyr tydfil. Then I moved to the 'diff when I was 28 for a few years
Avatar 3:44am
Ike:

@Fox@3:32, yeah, we've discussed the zombie Cyber-Brig before, but IMHO a lot of the Capaldi episodes were really good and Michelle Gomez was fantastic. It wasn't consistent, but when has DW ever been consistent?

Except when Jodie Whitaker and Chibnall came in, then it was consistently terrible. And very, very boring. And Chibs made up a bunch of weird new rubbish about the Doctor's origins that didn't even go anywhere. Talk about conflicts between classic and modern Who, HOO BOY...
  3:45am
Itsa Little Stormy:

Smith and Tennant were my faves, along w Capaldi....something about the rocker in him shined thru a very serious exterior
  3:46am
Listener Bop Monroe:

p- Cool with a capital C.
yeah, Smith and DT best so far
  3:47am
Itsa Little Stormy:

@ Fox Amy and Rory deserved a better ending than what they were given
  3:48am
Listener Bop Monroe:

at least they got to see NYC!
Avatar 3:51am
Ike:

I liked a lot of the episodes from the Steven Moffat era (seasons 4-10) but yeah, season 7 was his worst. Moffat was trying to write and produce DW and Sherlock at the same time, which was disastrous. Should've picked ONE. Idiot. That NYC Weeping Angels ep was his worst script. I don't mind a tragic companion ending, but make it make sense!

Capaldi wasn't as popular as Smith or Tennant b/c he wasn't a sexy young thing anymore, and started out kinda cranky, but the character development across his regeneration was fascinating IMHO!
  3:52am
Itsa Little Stormy:

@Ike: I thought Capaldi was HELLA sexy!

Avatar 4:13am
Ike:

Oh yeah, The Devil's Hour. I watched that on Amazon. I agree it was dragged out. It got renewed for seasons 2 & 3. Hopefully it will have more Capaldi and less reluctance to dive wholeheartedly into the whole SF/time-loop theme. I think they were scared to confuse people and wanted to ease them into it slowly, but that rarely works. Just go for it. Being shy with wild themes doesn't work.
