	5:42pm ultradamno: I came by a lot of weird stuff as a kid at the public library. Republicans are probably putting a stop to that.
	5:45pm Debbie Davenport: I remember checking out Hitler records at the library as a kid. Speeches, crowds yelling. it was kind of boring to me but full of energy.

	5:51pm Debbie Davenport: The book banning lists really crack me up. My mom was a jr high librarian for awhile. One day she came home with a list she made for me off the check out cards inside of books she deemed dangerous. To warn me about students who checked out books on witchcraft. It was a small town so I knew everyone on the list.

	5:55pm Rich in Washington: I got turned onto Hawkwind by a comic store clerk who was blaring Doremi Faso Latido so loud it chased off all the casual browsers one fine Saturday. That clerk later founded Dark Horse Comics.

	6:00pm Debbie Davenport: Two locations of The Record Works in Arcata and Eureka. But the two I really liked were House Of Records in Eugene and green Noise Records in Eugene. They moved to POrtland and then the owner sold it. Still probably a good store though.
	6:01pm Debbie Davenport: Super anal collectors would come into house of records and some of my coworkers were intense also. I love that kind of obsessive mind.

	6:06pm Barno in Akron: Hey Debbie. Thankfully, House of Records is still rocking in Eugene. I visited during a trip in September.
	6:09pm Debbie Davenport: Yeah, that's really something. They've been there since the early 70s. I also encountered Matt Groening there and made a complete fool of myself thinking he was some random guy with the same name. I even mentioned working with Matt as a teen and he engaged me in conversation about it! I was a complete airhead.

	6:30pm Barno in Akron: House of Records is a treasure house, Debbie. I didn't know there were records in the basement.
	6:32pm Debbie Davenport: The owner keeps part of his collection there, but there is also a lot of old random 7" stock. Or was. I quit in 98. I don't know what it's like down there now.
	6:34pm Debbie Davenport: Fred was my favorite employee there, and he even tried to talk me into staying. But he moved to Portland and does other stuff now. He made that place special.

I sold a lot due to genuine enthusiasm and people who didn't intend to buy much wound up buying twice as much. But the random long hair dudes who liked classic rock cassettes got an earful from me about what came from what and what people are doing now or what they may like if they liked something else, (usually a mainstream thing). I'd turn them on to the not so mainstream. The shitty fancy girls were like ew gross... etc.

	7:20pm Mr Fab: friend of mine worked at Amoeba Hollywood. Once Lux Interior came in. he recognized him in his natural grey hair and glasses - "he looked like Ted Danson." He asked Lux to do a "what's in my bag" bit and he said, sure but let me come back later when I look like Lux Interior!" Alas, he died before that happened. I so would have LOVED to know what was in Lux's bag.

	7:24pm Carmichael: Lux and Ivy lived in Sacramento in the early days, and they would frequent a local store called Records on the K St mall. An old guy named Ed ran the place, and he seemed to know absolutely everything about every music genre.

One day she came home with a list she made for me off the check out cards inside of books she deemed dangerous. To warn me about students who checked out books on witchcraft. It was a small town so I knew everyone on the list.

I also encountered Matt Groening there and made a complete fool of myself thinking he was some random guy with the same name. I even mentioned working with Matt as a teen and he engaged me in conversation about it! I was a complete airhead.

I sold a lot due to genuine enthusiasm and people who didn't intend to buy much wound up buying twice as much. But the random long hair dudes who liked classic rock cassettes got an earful from me about what came from what and what people are doing now or what they may like if they liked something else, (usually a mainstream thing). I'd turn them on to the not so mainstream. The shitty fancy girls were like ew gross... etc.
