Reminds me of seeing a film about the Russian rock underground in the 80s or early 90s, which had all these real-life Russian musicians in it, but the cringe-y thing was, the protagonist -- a rebellious anti-authoritarian punk -- sported a Cats t-shirt thru most of the movie. It was like the white beanie a young Jerry Paris wears (uncredited) as Dextro in The Wild One. Anyway, great show, great music! Many thanks!

In January 1978 San Francisco's The Avengers opened for what would be the Sex Pistols final show at hometown venue Winterland Ballroom. Around that same time the West Coast punk trailblazers traveled to NYC to play a memorable gig at CBGB. Fast forward 47 years and the Avengers will be back in NYC playing at Gold Sounds, March 7th 2025. In advance of this Brooklyn show the Avengers lead singer Penelope Houston will talk with Billy Jam when he guest hosts for Mona on Friday February 21st 3-6pm.

Reminds me of seeing a film about the Russian rock underground in the 80s or early 90s, which had all these real-life Russian musicians in it, but the cringe-y thing was, the protagonist -- a rebellious anti-authoritarian punk -- sported a Cats t-shirt thru most of the movie. It was like the white beanie a young Jerry Paris wears (uncredited) as Dextro in The Wild One. Anyway, great show, great music! Many thanks!
