Favoriting November 13, 2022: Gettin' Down With Muhammad, Gettin' High in the Sky With Hawes
A double-birthday soiree: New Orleans-born drummer Idris Muhammad (born Leo Morris) started his recording career at 14, and soon afterward moved to NYC and became a house drummer for Prestige records, and a sought-after studio hand everywhere; LA product Hampton Hawes was learning and playing by ear on his mother's lap as a toddler - became a West-Coast teneage phenom, got busted and jailed for smack on his 30th birthday, and died of unrelated causes at only 48 - luckily leaving a trail of musical treasure behind.

Idris, the king! love that he was able to play in sessions like this weston and backing pharoah sanders etc and also lay down the heaviest funk/breaks on blue note and prestige classics from the late 60s— like this grant green! when i came to NY in 2001 and the younger generation jazz-funk/jamband thing was popular i got to see him perform a lot with the younger guys and also with some of the older legends like melvin sparks and reuben wilson who had were getting a lot of recognition

Michael, we had two great specialist jazz record shops in central London years ago, but one bit the dust and the other has only survived by incorporating itself into a major bookshop. There is still one obscure one tucked away on the outskirts, and long may it continue to live there.

Sem, the suppositories were the marketing department's idea. They're always looking for ways to make people pay out the ass. They didn't exactly fly off the shelves, so now they're pursuing FDA certification as a form of chemotherapy. Can't have colon cancer when you've no longer got a colon, was the logic.
Avatar 3:29pm

What are the suppositories made of that they can withstand the corrosive contact with Glen Passaic?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm

Stork, they ingeniously separated Glen Passiac into its primary isotopes (the "G" and the "P," as it were), and piped them into parallel non-reactive food-grade polycarbonate tubes. Think of it as a two-part epoxy that liquifies all it touches instead of hardening when mixed.
