The EU was supposed to stop changing clocks a few years ago, but it still hasn't happened. It's certainly a fairly useless exercise here in Finland.

I think part of the issue with stopping the time change in the EU is settling on which one to keep. If left to each country time zones could get even worse than they are

@Brian: Fun tidbit: in Saint Denis in the suburbs of Paris, there was a small park/square named after Thiers, that was renamed after De Geyter (composer of The Internationale). The name change was almost a century ago, but some people still insist on the old name
