The fashion in Lost Boys really makes it a time-capsule... though people dress like they are from the 80's now with no irony, so maybe it's not as much of a period piece as we think?

	♥ 7:21pm Austin Rich: I see dudes who wanna look like those vampires all the time... in fact... I think I've seen dudes like that at Motorhead shows every time I went.
	7:21pm Sarcofiguy: @AUSTIN: The funny thing/irony of the 80's was everyone was so into vintage clothing, as well. I have this book (somewhere in the house) called Wild Style, where everyone is accesorizing their punk hair with vintage clothing!

	♥ 7:22pm Austin Rich: It's true! At the time, I got all my clothes second-hand. I was always a half-generation or full generation out of step with my fashion. And I was tearing it up and mixing and matching, once I got old enough to realize I could do that.
	7:23pm shangri-lounge: I love Fright Night. I've only seen Fright Night 2 once. All I really remember is roller skating vampires. (It wasn't great.) But, I'd really like to watch it again sometime though.

	7:24pm Sarcofiguy: @SHANGRI: I still have FRIGHT NIGHT 2 on VHS! I love that silly thing! It so wanted to LOST BOYS, I swear. But, I didn't mind it at ALL!
	♥ 7:25pm Austin Rich: My big move toward bow-ties and that kind of stuff was very practical: in the late 80's, bow-ties were NOT cool, not even among Dr. Who fans. So you could get them SO cheap, along with a corny messed up suit and a plaid dress shirt. These days, that kind of stuff would be very expensive, even in a thrift store. But back then, you could practically get it for free.
	♥ 7:25pm Krys O.: We had a great thrift shop in my hometown that would have sales. Fill a paper grocery bag for $5. The proceeds from the shop went to fund programs at the local hospital and the donations were from rich folks in Greenwich and Rye.
	7:26pm shangri-lounge: Can I come over, and we'll have a movie marathon, Sarcofiguy? Everyone from the chat is invited, of course. Provided they bring snacks!

	♥ 7:27pm Krys O.: My family was very poor too, but hand-me-downs didn't work well because my sisters were 12, 14 and 16 years older than me.

	♥ 7:28pm Austin Rich: I was the oldest in my family, so I got "new-used" stuff, of stuff from my Dad. My younger brother is the one who hated getting hand-me-downs the most, after it had been through me and my other brother, first.
	♥ 7:32pm Krys O.: I wore men's jackets from the 60s to school in high school and my parents thought I was gay. Que sera. I did keep some of my dad's sweater vests and ties after he passed.
	♥ 7:34pm Austin Rich: I have a jacket and a sweat from my grandfather. Sadly, they are not "vintage," or at least, not as old as I wish. But they were his, and love them.

	♥ 7:40pm Austin Rich: I've worked in bookstores off and on since the late 80's, first for my mom, then for B. Dalton, then for Barnes & Noble, and now for a local store here in the Mid-Valley. We have TOO MANY BOOKS. Then we go to a thrift store, and Marla is like, "Uhm, do you need more books?" And I don't have a good answer.

Jeez that was such a bad experience). When I was at Borders I was the video guy, which was a bad/brilliant idea, cuz I love myself some movies!
	7:48pm shangri-lounge: I think it's just the effect/tuning on an electric guitar. I'm not really a musician. But, I know "surf guitar" is pretty specific.

	♥ 7:51pm Feldy: I'm the same way, Austin. I have signed Love & Rockets, artist-printed Risograph comics, all kinds of cool things I can't get rid of and try so hard to slow down then I see a record I gotta have
	♥ 7:51pm Austin Rich: B&N was sort of hell, in very special kind of way. I was in the music Department there. Never managed to land a comic book job per se, but there were often comics around. And I dated a few comic book girls (who worked in stores), but that was as close as I got.

	♥ 7:54pm Austin Rich: Daniel Clowes was someone, who I was pick one of his books for a "staff recommends" shelf, and then my boss would come back and say, "That's not appropriate." It's hard to pick a fave Hernandez Bros book, and their new stuff is great, too! But I'm a sucker for those Mario stories in the early issues.

The fashion in Lost Boys really makes it a time-capsule... though people dress like they are from the 80's now with no irony, so maybe it's not as much of a period piece as we think?

	7:21pm Sarcofiguy: @AUSTIN: The funny thing/irony of the 80's was everyone was so into vintage clothing, as well. I have this book (somewhere in the house) called Wild Style, where everyone is accesorizing their punk hair with vintage clothing!

	♥ 7:22pm Austin Rich: It's true! At the time, I got all my clothes second-hand. I was always a half-generation or full generation out of step with my fashion. And I was tearing it up and mixing and matching, once I got old enough to realize I could do that.
	7:23pm shangri-lounge: I love Fright Night. I've only seen Fright Night 2 once. All I really remember is roller skating vampires. (It wasn't great.) But, I'd really like to watch it again sometime though.

	♥ 7:25pm Austin Rich: My big move toward bow-ties and that kind of stuff was very practical: in the late 80's, bow-ties were NOT cool, not even among Dr. Who fans. So you could get them SO cheap, along with a corny messed up suit and a plaid dress shirt. These days, that kind of stuff would be very expensive, even in a thrift store. But back then, you could practically get it for free.
	♥ 7:25pm Krys O.: We had a great thrift shop in my hometown that would have sales. Fill a paper grocery bag for $5. The proceeds from the shop went to fund programs at the local hospital and the donations were from rich folks in Greenwich and Rye.

Jeez that was such a bad experience). When I was at Borders I was the video guy, which was a bad/brilliant idea, cuz I love myself some movies!

	♥ 7:51pm Austin Rich: B&N was sort of hell, in very special kind of way. I was in the music Department there. Never managed to land a comic book job per se, but there were often comics around. And I dated a few comic book girls (who worked in stores), but that was as close as I got.

It's hard to pick a fave Hernandez Bros book, and their new stuff is great, too! But I'm a sucker for those Mario stories in the early issues.
