	10:28pm northguineahills: The original Swedish Let the Right One In was actually pretty good, then there was the American movie version was crap, i'm expecting the tv version to be even a more watered-down post-tween glitz (or something)

	10:36pm ultradamno: Alfredson's movie is my favorite vampire movie. The US version is like the reader's digest version, disappointing because Reeves made a big deal that they weren't doing a remake but a fresh adaptation of the novel (which certainly has enough in it to merit an alternate take)...that they took the title from the US first edition of the novel that seemed like it translated back the Swedish title (itself a Swedish translation of The Smiths' lyric) is indicative of something...this TV show seems like they got spooked by right wingers who get mad at trans characters (in stuff like the new Hellraiser, for example) and made Eli into Eleanor and changed Håkan from an exploited pedophile into her loving father, for a start.

	10:50pm ultradamno: ...yeah, and on top of that, it just dumbs down the character in a literal way, because she now is no longer over a century old and is regarded as just a kid (rather than the literal smartest person in the room) and the father's business takes up far more real estate (along with some other new story lines involving a vampire she turned and Mamie Gummer as his sister/caretaker) and the Oskar character's mom...the whole Eli/Oskar relationship is just one ball in the air.

	10:36pm ultradamno: Alfredson's movie is my favorite vampire movie. The US version is like the reader's digest version, disappointing because Reeves made a big deal that they weren't doing a remake but a fresh adaptation of the novel (which certainly has enough in it to merit an alternate take)...that they took the title from the US first edition of the novel that seemed like it translated back the Swedish title (itself a Swedish translation of The Smiths' lyric) is indicative of something...this TV show seems like they got spooked by right wingers who get mad at trans characters (in stuff like the new Hellraiser, for example) and made Eli into Eleanor and changed Håkan from an exploited pedophile into her loving father, for a start.

	10:50pm ultradamno: ...yeah, and on top of that, it just dumbs down the character in a literal way, because she now is no longer over a century old and is regarded as just a kid (rather than the literal smartest person in the room) and the father's business takes up far more real estate (along with some other new story lines involving a vampire she turned and Mamie Gummer as his sister/caretaker) and the Oskar character's mom...the whole Eli/Oskar relationship is just one ball in the air.
