Doctor, every night I have the strangest dreams
Doctor, listen to me, tell me what this means
First I'm goin' shoppin' in my underwear
Then all of sudden I'm floating in mid-air
My lips fall off and everybody starts to stare
Donuts and hot dogs are flying everywhere
Now Doctor, wait a minute, you ain't heard nothin' yet
Next comes the part that I won't ever forget
Now I'm bein' followed by these Russian spies
They give me some velcro, and an order of fries
Suddenly I'm bowling on the Starship Enterprise
I fall down a hole and that's when I realize
I am stuck in a closet with Vanna White
I'm stuck in a closet with Vanna White
Night after night after night after night
All right!

Little PSA for those who don't like to sleep in silence, but white noise generators don't do the trick: I've been sleeping with NTS' 24-hour field recording stream as the soundtrack for over a week now, and am delighted with the results, thus far:

Because, as I just learned from the Wikipedia:
"I Get Along Without You Very Well" is a popular song composed by Hoagy Carmichael in 1939, with lyrics based on a poem written by Jane Brown Thompson, and the main melodic theme on the Fantaisie-Impromptu in C sharp minor, Op 66, by Frédéric Chopin.[1] Thompson's identity as the author of the poem was for many years unknown; she died the night before the song was introduced on radio by Dick Powell.[1]
The biggest-selling version was a 1939 recording by Red Norvo and his orchestra (vocal by Terry Allen).
Cool, huh? I learned something today. I didn't know about the Jane Brown Thompson poem!

Especially an actually good show.
That's why I've so far stuck to my dilettante's affectation of a show only every so often, when I'm ready for another round of self-inflicted torture!

I reckon any old FMUvian could throw together one rather bitchen Compilation
...but a new totally fresh one weekly ??
& all the technical aspects of boards & mixing ...I'm ashamed to say I haven't the first clue about them. All I do is deafen myself with a gittar & amp...
Nevermind the scheduling parameters of Sets & station IDs & ...on & on.
& finally - Speaking on a Broadcast. An entire other field of concerns...

But then when I began doing shows, they ended up having lots of music which was only a few months old at the time of the show, and indeed one of the things I love the most about making radio when I do is that the prep phase inspired a more frenzied dive than even usual into listening to lots and lots of unfamiliar or semi-familiar stuff, and I usually come out of the experience with some new favorite musics and often even artists. That's a big win!
