So, I'll probably work remotely here for a few months, save $$$, then move to nyc.

	3:51pm slugluv1313: hiya, Phillippe! thanks! basically administrative/office work, advocacy, social worker-y stuff . . . but have not been able to do any volunteer work either . . . thankfully, though, finally heard from a DOL division -- no real high hopes (i am usually better off doing like ngh is doing!) -- but may help with resume stuff etc. (although there too -- bc i am "old," AARP has much more current and useful information/resources)

I'd normally say she'd have some good contacts for you, but unfortunately the only time we see those people anymore are at their retirement parties. Most were MD state employees and they've taken their pensions and run to Delaware.

	4:35pm slugluv1313: @ngh -- yes, exactly! my observation is that the best advocates/counselors/etc. are those who have been in similar situations -- substance abuse, survivors of trafficking, DV, sexual assault, etc., veterans experiencing PTSD, etc. -- a lot of the social workers may have advanced degrees and such, which is great -- but they have NO idea what it is like to have experienced whatever some of the social work type jobs at The Innocence Project describe the reentry process, and how to advocate and support those who are coming out of prison after being exonerated -- and this process is frighteningly similar to that for those who are coming out of DV situations and trafficking

I'd normally say she'd have some good contacts for you, but unfortunately the only time we see those people anymore are at their retirement parties. Most were MD state employees and they've taken their pensions and run to Delaware.

	4:35pm slugluv1313: @ngh -- yes, exactly! my observation is that the best advocates/counselors/etc. are those who have been in similar situations -- substance abuse, survivors of trafficking, DV, sexual assault, etc., veterans experiencing PTSD, etc. -- a lot of the social workers may have advanced degrees and such, which is great -- but they have NO idea what it is like to have experienced whatever some of the social work type jobs at The Innocence Project describe the reentry process, and how to advocate and support those who are coming out of prison after being exonerated -- and this process is frighteningly similar to that for those who are coming out of DV situations and trafficking
