	9:24pm Mr Fab: In Kraftwerk's "Robots" I never understood the line "we are dancing mechanic", since the pronounce it "mechan-IK." Not that it's good grammar anyway. So I thought they were saying "we are dancing neck-to-neck." I guess like how robots dance cheek-to-cheek? I didn't know.

	👻 9:45pm Austin Rich: There was an amazing French Blog that hosted all these compilations. (the "Once Upon A Time" series.) I downloaded most of them until the blog was nuked, and now I can only find reference to the track listings online. But I didn't complete the series! I would love to find another Once Upon A Time downloader.

	👻 9:49pm Austin Rich: I was in college when I discovered this Simply Saucer album, so it always reminds me of writing papers and courting girls I had no business talking to.

	👻 9:54pm Austin Rich: Mr. X: Those Once Upon A Time comps are all singles and tracks presented "chronologically" and by "region," starting with some proto punk stuff in 1970, and moving forward. I think I got to volume 11 or so before the blog was shut down. But they're mostly just trying to present a chronological punk archive, more than anything.

	9:59pm andrew the bunny: I first heard of them 'cause they had this album on cassette at my library. Then my brother sent me the Ruby series on CD. I eventually got the Japanese CD that had all of Electronic Despair with a couple Ruby bonus tracks. Maybe the Japanese CD is still out there?

	10:01pm Mr. X: I first heard Ruby/Android Sisters when it was first broadcasted. I lived out in the woods where we couldn't get TV, only radio. We were constantly tuned in to NPR.
	10:03pm ramencity: Mr. X, do you remember "Dick Astell, Radio Reader" who would read NYT best-sellers on air every eve?
	10:03pm Heather: Coelacanth, same with my old fashioned but it kind of add something, you know? Just ordered another.

	👻 10:14pm Austin Rich: I actually got really into this album, when it came out, and compared to some other Flaming Lips albums, this one holds up pretty well. They can often loose the story when they try something odd, but this album really works for them, and plays to their strengths.

	👻 10:41pm Austin Rich: The guitar player uses a pocket sized amp, runs it on batteries, and asks venues to run that through the PA.

	👻 10:42pm Austin Rich: The drummer build a wireless drumset that he triggers with a keyboard. He sets the drums up in the audience, and plays the triggers from the stage, and the drums play seemingly by themselves.

A combination of collage, new experimental records and other bits and bobs, Mid-Valley Mutations is a tour through the mind of Austin Rich, who has been broadcasting in some form since 1998. Heavily influenced by Dr Demento, Don Joyce and old fashioned College Radio, Austin creates Audio Essays on a variety of subjects, and even just plays records, from time to time. Sometimes Live music and Interviews will grace the program, helping create a situation where you don't really know what you're going to hear, when you tune in. What you need to know is when you enter the Mid-Valley region, be prepared for the Musical Mutations... in whatever form they take.
