Insect Trust. Didnt notice any clarinet on that, but I was up on a ladder changing light so not listening closely. Last week saw Robert Palmer's daughter documentary about him and the Pipers of Jajouka. Palmer was in The Insect Trust if I'm not confusing.

Huh! Hi, @WR. What's the name of that documentary?
I was playing the Ornette Coleman piece with the Master Musicians of Jajouka (and Palmer), and a colleague came to my office to demand what that hellish music was. She had not even heard of MMJ!! Incredible.

Listener Gregory:

I used to love reading Palmer's reviews in the Times. I learned a lot from them, which cannot always be said. I remember his book Deep Blues as being quite good, too.

LG! Ah MMJ! I saw I had something saved with that file name and I was wondering what is MMJ, Master Musicians of Jajouka, of course. Now if I can remember where the file is. The documentary is called The Hand of Fatima. At the moment I don't think it is available on any stream or uboob. I saw it via a seminar with online showing which included discussion with Augusta Palmer. In the discussion she said she is working on getting clearance on some of the music to be able to offer it via streaming a service or two. The doc was initially released in 2009. It is the daughter, who had very little contact with Palmer until very late in his life, using Palmer's intense relationship with MMJ as key to try to connect with her father and his legacy.

Thanks, @WR. I will keep my eyes open for it. Also, MMJ can stand for Medeski, Martin, & Jones, but that is another story.

Here is NYTimes review of the doc. Might be a paywall or limited access for those not registered user of nyt.

Wow, I would really like to see this. It's always disappointing when you find out that your musical heroes or authors had such problematic personal lives. Fortunately, all 5 of my ex-wives are very close friends!
