My friend Harvey Brooks, changed his name from his birth name of Goldstein when after a gig playing for Chico Holiday near Detroit, where Chico introduced him onstage as Harvey Goldstein, four guys who had been enjoying the show up until then, decided to jump him in the parking lot calling him "kike, fat Jewboy", etc. and began punching him.
Luckily some people happened to come out the door and the perps took off before much damage could be done. American Racism at it's "finest" on display.
The next day Harvey changed his name to Brooks after seeing a billboard advertising an orchestra whose name was The Nat Brooks Orchestra.
I'd imagine Sebastian Sr.'s name change was due to prejudice against Italians which was rampant at the time. I never asked John about it. He's a great guy.
He was an excellent classical harmonica player BTW.

This concept has been described in the allegory of Indra's Net: There is an endless net of threads throughout the universe. The horizontal threads are in space, the vertical threads are in time. At every crossing of threads is an individual, and every individual is a crystal bead. The great light of Absolute Being illuminates and penetrates every crystal bead; but also every crystal bead reflects not only the light from every other crystal in the net - but also every reflection of every reflection throughout the universe.
Thus we learn that we live in all other beings, all other things - and that they live in us. Our lives are richer - and more filled with obligations - than we ever knew before.

Went to get my car at the parking garage & the guy said "have you been drinking?"
I said I had a few (the truth maybe 3 all night).
He said, "look, I own this parking garage & the towing company & I'll tell you with out of state plates like you have, the cops will nail you for DWI.
Wait until I close up, leave your car here & I'll take you to the Ramada.
In the morning you can cab over here & there won't be any extra parking charge."
So he did & I stayed overnight.
I watched the police lights for an hour from my hotel window pulling people over left & right.
Never did get the guys name, but I owe him a thank you!
