A remarkable debut album from an unfortunately short-lived band, the high-velocity Spontaneous Combustion found Greg Lake applying his production talents to an amazingly talented power trio that featured the brother act of Gary Margetts (guitar) and Tristian Margetts (bass), along with powerhouse drummer Tony Brock.

I burned three fingers of my left hand cooking. I had a cookie sheet on top of the stove waiting to put the carrots into the oven to roast. I forgot the rice pan had a burner going and it heated up the corner of the cookie sheet. I picked it up with my left hand, screamed in pain, put it down and put my hand under lukewarm running water (it doesnt get cold in the summer in Albuquerque. It hurt like hell for about 4 hours. I recently downloaded The Minutemen's "Double Nickels On The Dime" for the second time in my rock collecting life. I was introduced to them by a friend who owned the vinyl "What Makes A Man Start Fires?" when I was learning the electric guitar in the mid 1980's. I played my electric guitar without, or with, minimal sound effects, or reverb. I am currently listening and studying jazz guitar. Mike Watts has always been a favorite bass player. Dos, and Firehose are great bands, too. "Mike! We were just speaking of you." What do you say Scott?

Nice, to read your reply, on the Listener's Comments, Scott. They are an absolutely wonderful band. I imagined you had met Mike Watt due to your profession. The Minutemen stand out, as a band, I learned from, heard, and go back to, from my formative years, as a teenager, to my life as an adult. I recently downloaded, the Red Alert, album collection. A band I had not heard of, before 2022. I told my sister about this Saturday's WFMU $1 album and compact disc record fair at Ol’ Monty on 43 Montgomery Street in Jersey City, New Jersey.
