There are a few small to large (not Okeefenokee large, mind you) swamps around here - adjacent to Eldridge Lake & its amusement park; a small fishing pond a few blocks from here along Newtown Creek; and the sizable Queen Catherine Marsh that stretches for miles south of Seneca Lake. I grew up around ducks, geese, cattails, fishes, BB guns and canoes.
It’s all connected to the Great Lakes or the ocean via canals, the St. Lawrence or the Chesapeake watershed.

When ya find a piece of bog wood, buried in the turf, (usually 2-3 feet down) it was trees crushed by the Glacierers ..
it is precious as it burns long and bright ..
