	12:17pm Andres: Hello, end and all! My friends once hitchhiked 8hrs to Vancouver to see these guys play. They had a sign, "Echo and The Bunnymen or Bust", that got them there.

I will have to do extensive QC tests as my part for the cause. I did once write out a recipe that I'd put together for Mama Tried when I saw they actually keep Suze behind the bar.

	12:19pm clarke: it was on the Riverboat President seeing The Fleshtones and Echo on a cruise concert. the backstage area was the top of the boat - and we were hanging, and all of a sudden will kicks my friend in the balls, he goes down. later i ask him why. he say s"i said brit bands were inferior to the bands coming out of MN. so, i deserved it".

	12:24pm efd: @Handy don't be dissuaded. The first two times I went to New Orleans (ages ago, pre-Katrina) I was vegetarian and I still had a good time.

	12:24pm drr: Handy, my g.f is a vegetarian living in New Orleans, and there are dozens of places I like that she refers to as "french fries and a salad" places. That's all she can order. Parasol's is in that category.

	12:26pm McGroovey: I don't look at the Empire State Building every time I go to NYC, to be sure, but it is hard to avoid at least seeing it in the distance, if you're in Manhattan or the nearby bits of Brooklyn or Queens. Although too many other new boring modern buildings are beginning to block it.

	12:32pm drr: Handy: the veggie/carnie compromise for us features a lot of Vietnamese food, which is pretty common around here.

	12:37pm drr: yeah, they take summer breaks. I think they go to Vietnam. Note for vegetarians: Lilly's has veggie pho, but the broth is not veggie unless you request it. This is in tiny print on the menu. For this reason, Gina won't go with me anymore. And I love Lilly.

	12:39pm drr: The jukebox at Great Jones was curated by FMU djs if I'm not mistaken. Saw ? and the Mysterians there, which was a trip.

	12:40pm xtrakrispy: I read an interview with Mark Ibold recently where he said Jones was a "southern restaurant that served some New Orleans classics". Most folks just called it a NOLA restaurant, but that wasn't really the intention.

	12:41pm Handy Haversack: Great Jones was Kate's brunch favorite. She went on her own a lot.
	12:41pm xtrakrispy: That jukebox was the bomb. Although, the playlists of the folks that worked there were so awesome, you hated to interrupt them by sticking $$ in the juke.
	12:41pm drr: GJ got "discovered" and became unpleasant. I think it was the first place I wanted to kick someone's ass for the now common sin of talking on a cell phone in public.

	12:42pm Handy Haversack: Old Devil Moon in Alphabet City? I drank there after softball a few times but don't think I ever ate anything. There was a place called Muffaleta in Hell's Kitchen, but even I was skeptical.

	12:45pm xtrakrispy: The folks at End's Meats used to make a Muffaleta that was pretty damn good (nothing beats Central Grocery) with their house cured cold-cuts. But it was really all about the bread, which a part-time baker had perfected for them. Unfortunately, he/she left and they don't make the sandwich anymore because they can't get the bread right.

But it was really all about the bread, which a part-time baker had perfected for them. Unfortunately, he/she left and they don't make the sandwich anymore because they can't get the bread right.
