	6:43am G: @ T Tom: One of our rosebushes here had to be cut way down because it was right over where the street water line came into the house, and work had to be done on the line (leak in the pipe). The thing has grown to be three-four feet tall again in less than a year. (It had been eight feet tall and ten across). Rosebushes are pretty tough, usually, once they get started well.

	7:06am dday: @TTom: did the rose bush roots damage the water line? My neighbor had a tree root that damgaed a water line to his home. I was going to put a nice tree (either a copper birch or a dwarf maple) on my front lawn , that is until I had to locate my new well head there. Driller told me not to as the roots will seek out the water pipe to the house eventually.

Last night, Therese played Chocolat Billy's "Au Cinema". I posted that it is a bonafide WFMU hit as Clay has been playing it too. I also support the WFMU top forty.

	7:38am G: @dday 7:00: The guy who had to do the water line work said the rosebush had to be cut way down. So I did. But in the end it turned out to be a leak in a super little high-pressure plastic pipe coming from the street into the house, which turned out not to be under the bush. So we cut it down for nothing, which i was not thrilled about, because the rosebush was twinned with a rosebush further along the side of the house. But in 5 years the cutdown bush may be as large again as the twin. It's grown to be near four feet tall in less than a year.

	7:44am dday: G: wow. That's sad about the rosebush. Sounds like it was beauty. Super hard to dig them up & transplant as the roots systems are substantial. Seems it's always the "little things." My home sits on a concrete pad. I used to be on a common well system. Back in the 80's when the home was sited, they used a little neoprene connector buried 5' or so beneath the pad to tie the water line to the thermaline valve that ultimately fed the house. A pinhole leak in that connector in 2016 cost me $1500.00 to have a guy, very carefully tunnel under the house to replace with a stainless steel connector. One year later, I put in my own well & abandoned the old connections.

	8:20am G: @dday 7:44: Yeah, the S&WB (Sewage and Water Board) is notorious here in New Orleans, for many decades. The whole problem came up because we started getting 3000 dollar water bills in 2021. SWB will let the bill go if the repair is made by the homeowner and the usage goes back down. (Because the bill went up, the leak had to be just past where the water meter is, inside a metal SWB lid, right in front of the rosebush. SWB says leaks past the meter are up to the homeowner to repair at their expense -- a few hundred, in this case.) So we got it repaired. About the rosebush. It tried to start growing again where its old center had been, but then gave that up and grew up new from the root about 18 inches left of there, further down along the root, which ran a little ways down into the soil, but then sideways (concrete bottom planter). So it is going to end up more centered in the bricked-off planter area alongside the house than it was. OK... The huge root runs sideways and then back under the house. There was no way the root was coming out, temporarily or permanently, which is what the plumber originally asked for...

	6:43am G: @ T Tom: One of our rosebushes here had to be cut way down because it was right over where the street water line came into the house, and work had to be done on the line (leak in the pipe). The thing has grown to be three-four feet tall again in less than a year. (It had been eight feet tall and ten across). Rosebushes are pretty tough, usually, once they get started well.

I was going to put a nice tree (either a copper birch or a dwarf maple) on my front lawn , that is until I had to locate my new well head there. 	7:38am G: @dday 7:00: The guy who had to do the water line work said the rosebush had to be cut way down. So I did. But in the end it turned out to be a leak in a super little high-pressure plastic pipe coming from the street into the house, which turned out not to be under the bush. So we cut it down for nothing, which i was not thrilled about, because the rosebush was twinned with a rosebush further along the side of the house. But in 5 years the cutdown bush may be as large again as the twin. It's grown to be near four feet tall in less than a year.

	7:44am dday: G: wow. That's sad about the rosebush. Sounds like it was beauty. Super hard to dig them up & transplant as the roots systems are substantial. Seems it's always the "little things." My home sits on a concrete pad. I used to be on a common well system. Back in the 80's when the home was sited, they used a little neoprene connector buried 5' or so beneath the pad to tie the water line to the thermaline valve that ultimately fed the house. A pinhole leak in that connector in 2016 cost me $1500.00 to have a guy, very carefully tunnel under the house to replace with a stainless steel connector. One year later, I put in my own well & abandoned the old connections.

	8:20am G: @dday 7:44: Yeah, the S&WB (Sewage and Water Board) is notorious here in New Orleans, for many decades. The whole problem came up because we started getting 3000 dollar water bills in 2021. SWB will let the bill go if the repair is made by the homeowner and the usage goes back down. (Because the bill went up, the leak had to be just past where the water meter is, inside a metal SWB lid, right in front of the rosebush. SWB says leaks past the meter are up to the homeowner to repair at their expense -- a few hundred, in this case.) So we got it repaired. About the rosebush. It tried to start growing again where its old center had been, but then gave that up and grew up new from the root about 18 inches left of there, further down along the root, which ran a little ways down into the soil, but then sideways (concrete bottom planter). So it is going to end up more centered in the bricked-off planter area alongside the house than it was. OK... The huge root runs sideways and then back under the house. There was no way the root was coming out, temporarily or permanently, which is what the plumber originally asked for...

Further along in our conversation he told me Welcome Back was dashed off & minutes & made him a very wealthy man. John's a really sweet guy. Total gentleman. He used to stop in the recording studio often.
