A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Please also let me be the first to say that I will miss this show terribly over the summer, and I hope we are all able to reconvene here in this space afterward for a “what I did on my summer vacation” show.

Didn't fully appreciate the vision & courage of the man until I saw "David Bowie Is" at the Brooklyn Museum.
Then it all made crystal clear sense to me.

I remember seeing around that same time some of the coolest graffiti on both Bowie and Bernie. In between doorways on the LES where I had a weekly house gig there was one with Bernie drawn as Aladdin Sane.
There was definitely quantifiable evidence of a movement suffused with the spirit of the Moonage Daydream.
I better stop before I begin seeing the #PodestaEmails bearing indisputable evidence that the DNC and MSM conspired to cheat him.
Speaking of Woody, anyone have any idea in the ballpark of how many covers this song has?

Also only use it as last resort when I’m too tired to read and wanna turn off my brain a bit. Probably six of seven nights a week, even 7 of 7, I’m reading a book.
Speaking of which has anyone read “1966: The Year The Decade Exploded” by Jon Savage. Hands down one of the best contextual music books I’ve ever read. Exhilarating deep dive into the cultural and sociopolitical components effecting the upheaval of exploration in the music scene, as it pertains to pall of the nuclear age, the burgeoning of feminism, drug exploration through psychedelics and Eastern music/religion, the anti-war movement and the backlash of reactionary conservatism, etc. Savage’s research is really quite stunning.

There are not enough female voices on FMU. You were an important one in a choice time slot.
Hope you enjoy your summer, so unencumbered, and we'll be hearing those decidedly-French duck noises again soonish. Mwah!

If there are any folks in the area who can suggest a good paint store in the vicinity (no search engines for me in this one) I’d appreciate it!
Otherwise I’ll just merrily continue meandering on the bicycle engaging citizens here and there to ask for suggestions - the goddamn way it used to be (and one often lending itself to surprisingly uplifting encounters)!
I love Carlin’s quote about the difference between groups of people, which he didn’t like, and one in one meetings: “You can see the whole universe in the eyes of an individual.”

Greetings! You will be missed this summer. I am doing CAD to this wonderful Jazz music now.
Re: paint. A Polish painter I know said his rich clients insist on Benjamin Moore. Its supposed to be so great. I just use Behr from Home Depot and try to use a decent brush that DOESNT SHED HAIRS. Purdy brushes are really good for a mass produced brush.
I miss the Unix catalog at NMSU library (fast and super deep boolean searches.) AND the Brittanica Micropedia and Macropedia back in 1979 before Wikipedia took off. I enjoy the treasure hunt search for informatoin in a LIBRARY that is WELL STOCKED for Phd students...but I LOVE Youtube HOW TO videos. And just all the engineering information available such as the Darcy-Weisbach formula , NOT present in my Fluid Mechanics book.
