	7:36pm shangri-lounge: Same for me, Austin. I've never had to care for anyone beyond a cat. Much respect to those who do - whether babies or elderly people.

	7:39pm shangri-lounge: Because cats are the best! Instant happiness. My guy was actually making biscuits for the first time today. I've had him for two years. MY HEART IS BROKEN - so sweet.

	♥ 7:40pm Austin Rich: I took care of my wife's grandfather, when he was in his late 80's / early 90's, for a few years. But I never had to do the hard stuff. George and I watched westerns and he talked about growing up in LA in the 30's, and his time serving in WWII. His mom was in Vaudeville, so he had some stories of meeting Laurel and Hardy, and swimming in Rochester's (from Jack Benny's show) swimming pool. But that was the extent of anything George used to get up to. I just cooked and cleaned and helped him if he fell down, but he was mostly able to take care of himself up to a point, and then after that, I was not involved. But we watched True Grit together, and he loved that movie.

	♥ 7:42pm Krys O.: As a kid I ran errands and did light housekeeping for seniors in the apartment building where my dad was the super. Until the pandemic, I was going weekly to take care of my mom who has dementia. Just being there, holding hands, talking, or watching TV together is helpful. One of the worst things we all must face is ageism. It's a shame.
	♥ 7:43pm Austin Rich: Yeah. George and I had fun hanging out. If I had more free time, I would spend some time with some older folks who just need company. Just having a reliable friend can mean a lot.
	♥ 7:45pm Krys O.: Absolutely, Austin. I used to chat with my friend's elderly mother until she passed away last year. I would also keep in touch with a neighbor who lived into her late 90s.
	♥ 7:46pm Austin Rich: I have about three hours of my Grandmother talking about life on tape, and about eight hours of different recordings of George talking about different things he did. I've been meaning to transfer all the recordings to mp3s and share them, but I just haven't had time. One of these days!
	♥ 7:47pm Krys O.: My dear friend who was in the Boston band, The Girls is a home health aide down in Florida. He's always taken care of elderly relatives since he was a kid and he's a natural at it.

	♥ 7:49pm Scott67: I adopted my Dog from an elderly bloke & his wife. He was a Respite Client with terminal Brain Cancer. Gus was 9 months old & the women was overwhelmed. I offered to mind him for a while, she asked be to keep him. He is my best mate, met in tragic circumstance.🐶

	♥ 7:49pm Austin Rich: My grandmother was actually a riveter for Boeing during WWII... and went on to manage the tool room at Boeing until 1981. She helped manage the construction of one of the lunar rovers. My grandma was a bad ass.

	♥ 7:40pm Austin Rich: I took care of my wife's grandfather, when he was in his late 80's / early 90's, for a few years. But I never had to do the hard stuff. George and I watched westerns and he talked about growing up in LA in the 30's, and his time serving in WWII. His mom was in Vaudeville, so he had some stories of meeting Laurel and Hardy, and swimming in Rochester's (from Jack Benny's show) swimming pool. But that was the extent of anything George used to get up to. I just cooked and cleaned and helped him if he fell down, but he was mostly able to take care of himself up to a point, and then after that, I was not involved. But we watched True Grit together, and he loved that movie.

Until the pandemic, I was going weekly to take care of my mom who has dementia. Just being there, holding hands, talking, or watching TV together is helpful. One of the worst things we all must face is ageism. It's a shame.
	♥ 7:43pm Austin Rich: Yeah. George and I had fun hanging out. If I had more free time, I would spend some time with some older folks who just need company. Just having a reliable friend can mean a lot.
	♥ 7:45pm Krys O.: Absolutely, Austin. I used to chat with my friend's elderly mother until she passed away last year. I would also keep in touch with a neighbor who lived into her late 90s.
	♥ 7:46pm Austin Rich: I have about three hours of my Grandmother talking about life on tape, and about eight hours of different recordings of George talking about different things he did. I've been meaning to transfer all the recordings to mp3s and share them, but I just haven't had time. One of these days!
