I have you heard you extol the virtues of that Magma LP before, Micah, and now I will dutifully find myself a copy of the record. Also, the "1970 US prog Underground" (which did not really exist?) is an area of interest for me. Most the bands were better than Styx!

Actually “Phantom” was ahead of it’s time, it has a number of parody bands performing very canny parody songs in different genres. There’s Beach Boys type group, a greaser-billy doo-wop band that does a teenage car-crash death ballad, and a glam band with a macho singer called “Beef”
