It would be like saying rock n roll bands sucks because their neighbor's kid is practicing with his rock band a lot, and they suck...

	8:17pm postconsumer: LOVE them. Didn't play them for a long time though, because they have a singer and they play instruments, too. I've decided to relax the rules a little since then though. Hell yes, The Books.

	👻 8:19pm Mr Fab: people seemed offended by the mere existence of mashups. There was a misconception that anyone - "some kid in his bedroom" - could just throw a mashup together. And people thought it was illegal/immoral to "steal" other people's music. That hasn't been much of an issue in a while. Mark from Negativland has said that thanks to Youtube, people are now accustomed to artistic appropriation, so "we're not avant garde anymore."
	8:19pm postconsumer: I'm very strict about my rules, when I make them up for myself. Been sober 13 years. Produce a show where everything's sample-based. Gotta be more than 50% recycled, I figure. I've got more focus in the comments today, which is fun.

	8:22pm postconsumer: I'm a sound collage artist, and I'll admit, I thought it would be easy to make a mashup, 20 years ago... I gave it a shot, full of swagger. The best I could do was match the beats up, and add in other sounds. I couldn't make anyone harmonize or anything remotely like a good mashup.
