Thanks for saving us from that show, Matt

At least they didn't make poor Matt start way early without any notice this week!

Hi!

Lothianman:

Greetings all! As Hendrix used to say at the beginning of his shows "I see that we meet again!"

Matt! Blueing agents!

Trying to listen on headphones while on a community environmental meeting and K8 runs her set in the next room. It's complex!

Fantastic instrumental duo there!

Ok I recall from an earlier DTS show that Jessie Hill song also qualifies as an instrumental

Ella Fitzgerald does a great (kinda rare for her, blues) cover of Cherry Red.

Zinn The Mood:

Hey Blues peeps. This set is hitting the spot during a particularly blue week. Mourning a bass player friend who died of Covid last week (was very immunocompromised), the Buffalo white supremacist massacre and reading a book that was mentioned in a James Baldwin bio called “Home To Harlem,” which is set in 1920’s blues drenched uptown.
I’m sitting in the park with the sun going down over the Hell Gate/East River listening while watching the kids play on the playground.
Thanks.

OK, I am pretty sure that the NOAA biologist on this call I'm on who said he spent the day running Eel Day(!!!!) at Liberty State Park in JC is wearing a WFMU hat!

Uleeshuh TN:

sorry Zinn 😞. didn't know you could say Poon tang on the radio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm
Handy Haversack:

Hey, Zinn. Sympathy and solidarity, friend.
  7:23pm
Edward:

Nothing dirty about it. They said right there in the song, "poon-tang" is just huggin' and a-kissin.'

true story
  7:36pm
Edward:

I had thought of Rick Wakeman only as the guy who protested A&M signing the Sex Pistols. Newfound respect!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm
ultradamno:

Who wrote Wakeman's speech, Rodney Dangerfield?
Avatar 7:37pm
slugluv1313:

@Zinn -- i am so sorry to hear this -- sending love and blessings and hopeful, positive energy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm
ultradamno:

I didn't know that one, I knew Ronstadt and Frampton had issues with The Ramones being on Sire...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm
ultradamno:

...though I imagine Rotten would retroactively protest the Sex Pistols signing himself, considering what a fan of the royals he's become.
  Swag For Life Member 7:40pm
Zinn The Mood:

Thanks all.

Wakeman is such a character, wonderful story teller. Great but - thanks! Don’t care what anyone says, I fucking LOVE Yes! So much so that it’s ridiculous. He’s done some great celebration performances interpreting all sorts of stuff. Thanks for the nod to RW.

Keep da blues coming…

hah! i remember Maria Muldaur's version, but never heard this -- the original?
  7:41pm

Huh wasn't Ronstadt on Geffen?

Maria Muldaur did a whole tribute album to Blue Lu Barker that ain't bad at all.
  7:42pm

Asylum I mean, not Geffen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm
