It was an especially fine May afternoon in his small NorthEastern providence in that HyperBorean region of the People's PostApocalyptic Confederation of DemocraticSocialist Technocracies ...yes, the Economic Plan of the New Century had resolved most societal injustices - & what now seemed the Medieval reactionary structures & policies of the old century seemed ever more remote & receding... Good information G! I'm a real fan of the 1970's Tropicalia records, but the wordplay often escapes me. The whole clan of revolutionary Brazilian artists were brilliant on so many levels, just blows my mind.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm
G:

@Gurld: It's super cool and worthwhile stuff. And often the subtext of the lyrics is political, during the military government after the mid 1960s. One way they could get that message out under censorship. Some went into exile, of course.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm

To be fair to Chelsea Wolfe (the headliner) Faust *did* take a really long time to set up and get moving. They were great even in an abbreviated form but it kinda felt like they weren't really being mindful of the fact that it was a festival and other people still had to play.
Avatar 3:31pm
ChukAmok:

Thanks for the Sunwatchers, Scott! Perfect day for it.
Avatar 3:31pm
YETI BOB:

Faust had an elaborate setup and some tech. issues. As soon as they got it all smoothed out, they were yanked off stage. I was pretty disappointed. The venue could have given them another 15 minutes. They are legends.
Avatar 3:32pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@G: That's interesting in context of how hard they came down on the Tropicalia Artists ! Which Fascists always do anyway to Creatives, to be sure... I guess I knew they were doing that somewhat...
Avatar 🧩 Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
Will the Sound Guy:

Polyus and YETI BOB... did they let them finish the song they were playing, or just go full mute and lights out?

Great show. Loved the Fugs’ tune. Very pleasantly surprised when that one came on.

Avatar 3:36pm
YETI BOB:

Faust played at the Empty Bottle in 2009 and 2018. My mind is so worn-out I can't remember which one of those shows I was at. Maybe both. I remember J.-H.P. jumping up on a piano and belting out "Les Petit Sons" - one of the best moments ever
Avatar 🧩 Swag For Life Member 3:36pm
Will the Sound Guy:

If it were my stage, there may have been a different outcome.... is there a sound curfew where the show was that would have made them pust them out to give the 'headliner' x minutes of time? idk, just odd...
Avatar 3:36pm
YETI BOB:

Also, Zappi got up from the drum stool, wandered out into the audience, right next to me and Mrs. Y., and he said to her: "I just wanted to hear what it sounds like from out here", then went back up onstage

Avatar 5:20pm

Typical surface area for activated carbon is approximately 1,000 square meters per gram.
Ken, thanks for asking! My coworker's cabin north of Santa Fe is surrounded but not engulfed. This is near Mora, NM. I live in Albuquerque so I am relatively safe from fire but maybe not smoke if the fires get closer. I work in the East Mountains (Monzano Mts) in southern Tijeras NM and no fires here so far.

Pretty much everywhere, random drives thru Las Cruces. + Silver City to check the vibe, might consider departing the east coast once & for all. We've lived in Tucson before (throughout the '90s) and that's the winner. But had to kick the tires of NM...

top criteria: no winter for riding all year. Everything else is secondary.

@neil 5:34 - Tucson heat works for us perfectly. I was a bicycle commuter all year (esp. summers in 115F), trained for long-distance riding there. But now it's motorcycles. Can't stand putting it away for the winter. Best therapy.

Also yes. Having mountains handy is incredible. Hate PHX with a passion, it's got no soul, no funk, no sass. Tucson had all that; less so now, but still does a bit.
