MW - Not yet. Don't want to force it, like my mom forced piano on me. I have a room full of guitars, keyboards, amps, etc. He can come in and play with it any time he wants, but he's more interested in Fortnight now.
F2 got it. Good FMU tunes on Sun - Ranking Full Stop 12-1 w/Mike Sin (Reggae)- AT with Ed 2-4, Bubblegum OD w/Becky 7-8, Whig Out 8-9 & Harry Funhouse after that. An All-Day of tunes
MW: Yes, no teaching this summer. So I can really work on the show full time. Going to Puerto Rico in late June, but otherwise, I am psyched to be able to REALLY work on the show in a very intense way. I have lots of ideas that I haven't had time to develop properly.
MW - No -- I didn't see that. What a loss. I'm still processing Rachel Nagy of the Detroit Cobras. She died in January, but I only found out yesterday. She was like a new Janis Joplin -- but with all the problems, unfortunately.
MW: I'm still trying to adjust to the WFMU parameters. Before this I was on Mixcloud doing shows that could go on and on and on. Some shows were almost 4 hours long. But with WFMU it has to be exactly 1:59.
Mom Whig, the first single I bought was Do Wah Diddy Diddy. When I got The Manfred Mann Album, I was surprised that it was mostly rhythm and blues. But I got to like it.
MW: If you don't want to get cut off, you have to edit the show to e exactly within the time parameters. Happy to do it, but it's different from what I did before, when I could go until I was tired of DJing.
F2 new things take time to get used to for sure. It was like my job - when they changed some computer program that we had for 10 years right before (worked at Florist)-taking order -- before Mom's Day or Valentine's Day - with not teaching us the new one but maybe once or twice. Maddening!!!
David: Let us hope. Coaching my son's little league team now and it's an involving game when you keep the pace up. But my god, those 4.5 hour Yankees-Orioles games with a gazillion walks and every at bat going to a full count and then foul, foul, foul, foul, ---- unbearable!
F2, there do seem to be more fouls. The Giants have a strategy of driving the starter's pitch count up and tiring him, so they can get to the reliever, so they keep fouling pitches off.
F2, I hadn't thought about that, but you're right, the multi-purpose parks in the 70's had more foul territory. But before that, wouldn't the earlier parks that were designed just for baseball also have had less foul ground?
David: You would think, but no. The dimensions of old parks were very strange --- look at The Polo Grounds -- 258 to left, 483 to center. And a lot of them had massive in-play foul ground.
F2 thanks - also Fenway Park has one red seat --and is the older park 1912.The lone red seat in the right field bleachers (Section 42, Row 37, Seat 21) signifies the longest home run ever hit at Fenway. The home run, hit by Ted Williams on June 9, 1946, was officially measured at 502 feet (153 m) – well beyond "Williamsburg".
MW - Yeah! Not everyone has the same connection between rock 'n roll and baseball, but for those of us who see them as part of the same continuum, it's a beautiful thing.
F2, although for me, my enthusiasms for rock and baseball aren't really linked. I first got my love for baseball from my father, who didn't get rock at all.
My father wound up being more of a football fan than a baseball fan. Football had no appeal for me. It annoyed me when baseball commentators recently were talking about the football draft, as if all baseball fans would care about it.
Cruisin big city neighborhoods with my daughter, the rocking us good.!
