A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Wrote a story about an Irish guy trying to escape the Nazi occupied France and Vichy Nazi France from Marseille on a boat to Mexico or Argentina and/but tried to also help an old Jew to get out with him ... but the old guy refused to cut his beard and sooo all is on delay .. one day the Irish guy goes down to to survey the Port ... trying to decide if to just save himself and leave the old guy behind ... a fishing boat pulls in and the Gulls were storming and squaring and
the Irish guy says to himself aloud "Even the Gullies are laughing at me.."

I am hoping they let us in! It's one of these app-based systems. The vendor *claims* the venue'll have a list of names so that I don't need to worry about refusing to carry a surveillance device, but it's hard to trust.
I also played my first softball game in 2.5 years on Tue. and then did two hours of raking and cleaning up outside yesterday, and my left thumb, right hip, and all four? eight? hamstrings are in open revolt. Perfect time for a concert!

FYI = "FREE" VICHY France deported at least or more than 100,000 jews to death in the Eastern camps ... 10-20 thousand were children and many adolescents not counted as children ... and all anyway just innocent people..
There is a newish Super LUX Hotel in Marseille which was the warehouse for mothers and children HOTEL BOMPARD ... Notorious place .. should have been a place of memory not a 5* Hotel..
If ya go to Marseille which is a great super Muti-Cultural place (Barcelona w/out tourists) go up to the Hotel Bompard with a can of spray paint or just a marker and write ... WHERE ARE THE CHILDREN

Woods -- as per Handy - if ya can get it to a different spot .. it will always and only go back there .... My father in Ireland would not kill them but destroy the nests after and would not listen to me when I said put up some mesh there and they will go elsewhere ... Hopefully yers will find a new spot (still plenty of Time) and you will be with them in harmony ...

YB, another COVIDsplanation for it is that the fewer people you have to bring on tour, the better your odds of not losing people/revenue/the tour to COVID. So bands that use full suites in the studio are touring without bass, drums, etc. more often.

(Also a few of the tedious looper-pedal shows I saw were locals so they don't have the "touring" excuse!).

I bought a looper pedal to mess with, but I never found a use for it. Yeah, sometimes it ends up replacing the the rhythm section, lazily, and I'm mostly a bass player. I don't see any need to replace myself.
