Listener comments!

  2:04pm
Gerry from Miami:

Hello to you, Irene! Herbie finally started making some money with records like this one. "Rockit" probably paid the bills for quite a few years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
adamdoesit:

Hello and belated Herbie Hancock's birthday, Irene -- or should I say, DJ Funky Stuff?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
Irene Trudel:

Hi Gerry! My husband & I just went to a Chick Corea tribute concert last night and Herbie played.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
listener 126464:

Hi Irene, nice to hear you. Can't listen live on Mondays for now, back to commuting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
Irene Trudel:

Hey adamdoesit and listener 126464! Glad you could join me today for this fill-in.

Bonus Trudel Time! Always welcome and exciting!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm

Good bonus time to you, doctorjazz!

Greetings Irene and listeners. I was again reminded this week how wonderful this station can be

Jazz-indulgent :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm
Irene Trudel:

Thanks fred and Gary! We are all about indulgence here.

quickie hello before I go biking to my friends who are making chile relleno for our lunch. I'll catch up on the archives!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm

Happy riding, alanr!

Been peeling potatoes, now to grate potatoes and onions, great soundtrack, have to say!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm
doctorjazz:

Ahem...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm
fred:

Again, I got to use local knowledge about the NY area I didn't earn to connect with someone. Does paying attention count? I feel like I try to buy my way into your community, and would cheapen it if you let me in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
adamdoesit:

fred, the best local knowledge about the NY area isn't earned but gifted. You're well with your rights.

doc, I'm cooking by the seat of my pants as usual. Yesterday was a rather succesful lamb and apricot stew with coriander and peppers. Today I'm attempting matzoroni and cheese… with sausage and ramps, lest I be accused of going kosher or mid-western.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm
doctorjazz:

@adamdoesit-yesterday's meal sounds great (not a big lamb fan, have made a similar "tagine" with chicken).
Went to cousins last night, tonight 14 folks here, I'm making short ribs and now potato kugel (doing the grating, grater is winning, drew 1st blood...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm
doctorjazz:

But the blood flavors the kugel, and reminds us of the blood affliction on the Egyptians (they were pretty hard on those Egyptians, good NY Times guest editorial on it...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm
Irene Trudel:

HeeHee, doctorjazz. fred, New Yorkers have a tendency to incorporate the knowledge of things they come across into their lives. Paying attention centainly works for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
Irene Trudel:

Ooh, adamdoesit, both meals sound yummy. I wish I had more time to cook. If I'm lucky I can cook a meal on a Sunday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
doctorjazz:

Love this!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm
fred:

@adamdoesit: I'm going to see my father tomorrow, and buses are going to be unreliable. I trust you to drain my share of Glen Passaic if I don't make it in time tomorrow. Once the bottle is uncorked, there's no going back
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm
doctorjazz:

Will be at the Town Hall show-barely any tix left a couple of weeks ago when I got the ticket.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm
adamdoesit:

fred, I will do my utmost. And, yeah, that stuff does evaporate off quickly once opened -- something about the volatile hydrocarbons, I think.

5 hours of Irene! Coooooool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm
Irene Trudel:

Hi Gina and Mark R! I'm only doing 3 hours today. Gina's still coming up after me. My fill in for her is next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm
Gina Bacon:

And thank you for that, Irene!
  4:25pm
Mark R:

Oh ha! Well, I like Gina, too! That Samara Pinderhughes track is one of the greatest tracks I've heard in a long, long time.

Mark R, Samora's songs are all like that-- devastatingly beautiful and moving.

Irene, thank you for being my guide to Ukraine benefit albums once again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm
Irene Trudel:

Thanks adamdoesit! There are more to be found, I'm sure.

Mark R:

Absolutely one of the greatest small groups ever assembled. I've been loving this album since it first came out! (Can you believe it's over 40 years old? Still sounds as fresh and modern as anything released today.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm
doctorjazz:

OK, food is all in the oven, testing a bit, thanks Irene!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm

Weirdly, I just discovered the Old and New Dreams albums in my husband's collection a month or two ago. Got some catching up to do.

Thank you, Irene. Cleaning the house was a pleasure today.

Those Old and New Dreams albums are great, have fun!
What Adamdoesit said @4:37-really like DakhaBrakha, will need to find some of their music!
  4:52pm
Mark R:

Well, that's understandable given how much amazing music is coming out (and has been coming out) all the time. A few gems are always going to fall through the cracks. I just discovered Big Star about 5 years ago, 50 years after the fact!
