I keep saying this, but could Eternally Yours be the most underrated album of 77-78? Absolute masterpiece.
  7:19pm
Edward:

@ultradamno You have my interest!
  7:20pm
Edward:

And on the same lines, I think Rosco Gordon must have been among the most undernoticed Sun artists.
  7:24pm
Edward:

Hey maybe I have a dirty mind but I think Fluffy Hunter keeps avoiding saying "fuck."
  7:25pm
Ira:

@Edward: read your comment too quickly, and at first thought you were suggesting that Rosco Gordon's one of the most underrated Satanists.
  7:26pm
Edward:

@Ira: That too.

Underrated Satanists not the worst blues band name.
  7:32pm
Edward:

Sammy Davis Jr. and the Lesser Satanists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm
Matt Fiveash:

Rosco Gordon underrated in just about every regard, Satanism included.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm
drr:

Did Sonny Boy Williamson know he had one of the best singing voices ever?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm
Matt Fiveash:

drr, good point, so many of the best singing voices belonged to singers better known for their instrument prowess- Elmore James and Little Walter both spring to mind. And SBW II too!
  7:37pm
Edward:

I know everyone hates rock critics, but I love Christgau's one-sentence wrap-up of Sonny Boy: "Miller's writing was as factual as a police complaint, his groove as sexy as a swamp in June, and he sang in the strong, slurred, subtle voice of someone who'd been talking his way out of shit since he learned to say maybe."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm
drr:

"Help Me" is the one that really shows it off.

I get chills every time I hear Elmore James sing " The Sky Is Crying"

I don't hate rock critics, The Angry Samoans wouldn't have existed without them

Hey there Matt! Somewhere I was hearing Little Walter, and glad to see he's hangin' right here with you, Dave Myers, Robert Lockwood on guitars, Mr. Dixon and Mr. Below this evening! Regret not coming by too often, but glad to be here this evening, and hope to be around more as time goes on.. I think Magic Sam comes to mind, maybe better known for his guitar playing, but what a great voice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm
Matt Fiveash:

Hey pr guitah! Yes, add Magic Sam to the list

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm

Yes sir!!
  7:48pm
Edward:

Before Al went all in for the Lord, Elvis Costello was asked whether he'd ever had a religious experience and he said "Well, I saw Al Green once."

Jimmy MacDonough's biography of Al is... disturbing. But the footnotes do refer to many great performances on YouTube.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm

Little known fact, all seven dwarves were named LaBeef.

ooh, fun fact: I worked with a guy named Roy Milton in Texas and after about a year finally thought to ask if he was related to "Roy Milton".
"Oh yeah" was the answer.

The parentage of Snowy LaBeef never fully established.
